I have read alot of the posts about Issues on Servers. We do appreciate all your hard work and having to stay up late working on getting these issues resolved so we can play this game. The simple thing is this. Why do these issues constantly arrise for AB and other high population servers on every single large patch? Most of us here are adults and it does not take a genius to figure out that something else needs to be done. I am not a programmer of any sort but common sense tells me that if these issues constantly arrise, then the servers that hold the information for AB need to be upgraded to be able to handle the bandwidth. This is why people are complaining. They are getting frustrated that is all. You constantly stress and tell us that once more people log in and get their toons updated that these issues will resolve themselves over the next few days. But here is my concern. You say that this is happening because of the large amount of people logging in on Primetime play time. What is going to happen over the weekend when the influx of people are going to log in that can not play during the week at all? I am not flaming here nor telling you how to do your job but maybe you should just post somewhere that AB and other high population servers are going to stay closed for another day until your programmers can come up with a viable solution to the problem that is occuring. Just keep the problem servers offline until it is fixed for good and offer some sort of compensation for lost time. IE Exp bonus or free transfers to less populated servers. Thanks for your continued hard efforts and im sure with time things will work themselves out.

K

That is a perfectly legitimate question and perhaps we should have been more visible about the things that we're doing.

Right now, we're keeping this thread updated with your specific issues. Server Performance Issues

In addition, as Rothgar mentioned, AB is the next server on the list after Nagafen has been upgraded to get hardware and database upgrades.

The issue in this particular case is solely that with AB's huge population and all the information that the server has to ping the DB for right now, due to the features of this update, it's causing stability issues.

Information overload essentially.

I understand that it's frustrating and we really are so sorry that it is happening. We're doing our best to fix things as fast as we can for you.

Thank you very much for your understanding and patience and your kind words.

~k

I was planning on replying this to Rothgars post in the other server thread but its seems to be locked now.

Is there any time frame for a server update? Is it possible to update the server hardware before the release of Sentinel’s Fate?

Thanks,

Taladorm

I realize that you and everyone else there are doing everything that you can do to get us back to playing the game and for that I just want to say thank you.

Nagafen is being re-deployed next month with a totally new set of hardware. If that proves successful, then we'll see other servers get these upgrades as well.

Crack the whip at the DB department boys and start ordering that hardware in bulk! We needs it now!

Thank you very much for staying late and making things work.

And the OP is totally correct. The entire basis of our frustration is that this isn't a new problem and with every new expansion, every new patch, and every new update, it just gets worse and worse. I appreciate that there are people working hard to make things work, but you have to understand that from our perspective- after sometimes days and nights of not being able to play all this great new stuff that people who don't play during prime time hours are raving about- its like putting a bandaid on a crack in the Hoover Dam.

Its gotten even to the point where I cancel raids for my crew every month during the Moonlight Madness (or whatever its called that happens the 20th of every month) because there are so many people on, we can only get half our folks in at a time and if they zone and crash, they can't come back. If you went to a restaurant and ordered your favorite dish, but so many people were eating it that they were out at least 2 nights in a month, would you go back to that restaurant? Or would you expect them to full the needs of the people eating there and order extra? THAT is where our frustration comes from.

You have to admit it works like base game damage. If you start with a strong base damage, everything beneficial you add to it grows exponentially throughout until the very top is just awesome. If you start with a weak base, its not nearly so awesome. The foundation of the most populated servers in the game is obviously weak and has been...well, as long as I've played. So when new expansions, new live events, new game updates, when ANYTHING new comes out, it only serves to exponentially compound every problem, new and old.

We've been begging with every new release of anything that's come out and we will continue to beg until we can log in the night of an update during primetime instead of having to wait several days before its possible: Fix our server foundations, please. Please, please, please. That's all we want.

And take a mental health day tomorrow. You can tell the boss I said it was okay.
