Im sure its been asked but i can't find it, will or is this game ever looking into quad core support because it just kinda sucks that i have a quad core and its only using one processor atm .

Im not computer ilerate but im not exactly savvy either but it boggles my mind that if im on quad core and have the mutli core support checked in options why is one processor at full blast and the other 3 like nil. Me and my bro have the same systems pretty much except his is amd mines intel and same graph cards and same amount of ram but yet on high quality we can only get like 15-25fps and i notice it seems to be perhaps because its only using one processor atm.

And dropping down dont do much really and gpu shadows are selected and triple buffering and such. Only thing that fluctuates it is if we go past high quality up into extreme and such.

The other cores only process animation if I remember correctly.

Waaaay back in the day, when dual cores were first on the scene, this game ran beautifully for me, and it balanced pretty decently across both cores.. Some weeks later, they took this ability away because some people were having issues with it. (I dont even remember)

Its been that way since, and even though today it has "dual core support", it was only for animation. This is what I read when they first attempted to re-implement the feature. I'd rather see it back the way it was.. Maybe it had something to do with timing and events or something.

Edit : But yeah, its not "really" dual core support as far as Im concerned. 1 core is still doing all the work.

With my quad I don't see a perfect 50-50 balance between cores but some of the processes are shifted off the main core.

What quality levels are you using? If you're running at a very high performance level then it's possible the features that would be moved to a second core aren't being used at all.

I guess with all the replies it goes back to my original statement of will we ever see quad core support and is there anyway with this game that i can offload that #4 to split the load a bit onto at least one other or is that no longer a option as the guy stated above.

I believe the dev chats mentioned shifting more of the processing to the GPU was a high priority, though. I'm guessing that will be the next performance-based change.

Aye its ok its just drivin me and my bro nuts that something like my computer

Intel 2.3ghz quad core

nvidia 9800gt

8gigs of ram

cant run this game higher than a 20fps much on high quality and adjusting it down dont really help it lol.

To disable background programs:1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY.
With 8 gigs of RAM Id be pretty certain its not background applications causing slowdown. EQ2 is still very CPU bound, and your CPU even tho quad core is still 2.3ghz.

I run a Q9550 while stock its 2.8 its a good overclocker and running 4.0ghz atm, which was a huge improvement over the stock speed.

I'd look into either overclocking what you have, or invest is a faster CPU (dual core or otherwise).
