My buddy, whom we were planning on leveling together, downloaded the trial, installed it and tried to run the game last night. Launcher launches, updates and installs, but as soon as the game boots up, it reboots my friend's computer.

He has DirectX 9.0c. I had him uninstall the game to reinstall it -- as I thought maybe files got corrupted in the download -- and now it cannot reinstall it.

He has no problems getting games like WoW or Guild Wars to work, so I'm not convinced this is a hardware problem.

What should he do to get the game running? And what could have possibly caused the game to reboot his computer every time he tried to run it?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If your friend could try generating the DxDiag system info mentioned in this post and place it on this thread, we can take a look at what he's working with and assist from there.

Actually, that won't be necessary. We figured out the problem. I was not aware he has less than a gig of RAM, which is why the game would crash his system so hard. We'll see about getting some more memory in his system before having to run the diagnostic.

Thanks anyway!

Daniel is right in that it's probably the most affordable performance upgrade for a system nowadays.
