View Full Version : Are these bugs?

Since the patch I have observed the following things which seem to be bugs:

1.) Right clicking any L&L mob drop immediately gives you the associated L&L quest if you did not already have it. This means that one could buy a drolvarg drop, get the quest and never need to enter KC for the book since you get the quest from the drops now. This is reproducible over and over and once people became aware of this there was a rush on the broker to buy up drops and get the quests the new easy way. I notice however that the drops tags have not been updated to reflect they are quest starters which is normally the case when you loot something that starts a quest. They look the same as always leading me to believe this is a bug. If it is, the problem now is a lot of people just skipped getting the books so patching a fix doesn't address some people getting the achievement more easily than others.

Is this a new and undocumented feature added in this game update or a bug? I did read the lengthy patch notes but maybe I missed this being mentioned in there someplace?

2.) Dinged a level zoning into the guild hall where i have been plenty of times before. Who knows why. I zoned and dinged as I was entering the world. Thanks for that but is it a bug also? I was tempted to log out and login again to see if I dinged again but I didn't bother.

3.) A group of 80s who go shiny farming in Crushbone keep discover they are getting xp killing grey mobs in there. They are not mentored down to anyone nor are they using the new system to drop levels so, is that working as intended or is that a bug as well?

It's been a long time and it was in old EQ and not EQ2 but this stuff makes me wonder if a rollback of the servers followed by another patch is not in our immediate future. I hope not but it is hard to figure how you could undo this stuff without one.

Hmm, kind of major bug.. And with major exploits, have you done /petition in-game? If not, plz do it asap. It spoils the best aspect of this game: questing

I would suspect they are well aware by now and perhaps sorting out how to deal with it since at this point quite a lot of quests have been started by taking advantage of this.

Then again, maybe they did decide to do away with the books but did not tell us that nor update the descriptive text for any of the mob drop objects in-game. I tend to doubt this but one cannot know until those who develop this software state which it is.

So I hope maybe someone from SOE today might just let us know which it is today and what the plan to deal with it is, etc. if it is a bug.

I am pretty sure this is documented in the patch notes but they are long and I didn't memorize them in preparation for any tests.

Makes things more interesting!

That is is. How about saying something about the L&L quests which was what this thread was primarily about though? Enquiring Elves want to know...

I'm not quite certain on the L&L issue you mentioned. I'm actually awaiting a response in regards to it. I'm betting that it was an intentional change though.

I have informed the appropriate people and I would advise submitting a /bug report as well. I can't say for sure that this wasn't intentional, though. I'll post an update when I have more information.

Thanks very much Daniel. I appreciate it. I really hope it was intentional or if not that they opt at this point to simply leave it in. In the context of killing those various mobs, to begin the quest with the first drop you see does make sense from a gameplay perspective and it does not seriously impact the game overall. It just makes it easier to begin each one of those quest and in a more timely way. There was not a lot of point locking books such as the drovarg one in places where by the time you could run them with a group, the mobs of the L&L quest were trivial and not likely to be ones you'd kill again, etc. More than half of the L&L mobs are a one time thing where others you do continue to encounter throught the game's levels. The skeletons one comes to mind right away as an example of a useful one.

The XP for grey mobs I did not experience personally and to be honest, could care less about myself. If somebody actually wants to go leveling in CB in their 70s killing grey mobs or grind AA at 80 there, well, have at it I guess. Even a 12 hour Plane of Fire grind in the old game was a whole lot more fun than doing that. At least those ones might kill you if you screwed up.
