Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place... My husband and I just recently decided to return to EQ2 after a 6 month break.. We got to talking and decided for a new experience we would begin on the test server instead of returning to our orginal characters..

Are there guilds and a pernement community on the test server? Iam really excited about trying out new content and being able to do quests and events without feeling like I have to run to a website and look it up first! Its all new so nothing to look up

Anyway thank you for answering

so youre aware before you invest a lot of time, the test server can (and i believe has been before) be wiped clean if something goes horribly wrong.

The Test server is a completely stable and "normal" server. Test copy is the one that can (and has been) wiped.

So, why aren't the frogloks available?

Test_copy/yes. Test/no.

Test is the only place I play now. Very stable, more mature, friendly, helpful group. Lots of guilds, including at least 2 that have writ slaved themselves up to level 80. Test has it all.

We are down more often than Live, most of the time with only a 30 minute warning but we get stuff first. Devs hang out in chat. Our input is listened to. So—for me at least, it's a win/win situation and the up time more than compensates for the downtime.

No free lunch on test. No buffers. No insta-levels but there is a 50% XP bonus over live that makes leveling up go a lot faster.

No matter where you choose to play, welcome back and good hunting to you.

Lader wrote:

so youre aware before you invest a lot of time, the test server can (and i believe has been before) be wiped clean if something goes horribly wrong.

This isnt entirely correct, SOE has stated time and time again that they do not intend to ever wipe the Test Server, it was told to us on day ONE, when Test opened, by Scott Hartsman himself when they moved the original several hundred, not copied, from live servers to the Test Server to jump start the playerbase. The server is backed up regularly, and incase of an event / patch that requires a rollback, there would not be ANY wipe, but a complete and full restore.

In 11 years, through EQ1 and EQ2 there has been exactly one Test Server wipe, in EQ1 on June 20th , 1999. 3 days later the entire playerbase was restored fully, but all gear and items were stripped. SOE spent the next year appologizing to the EQ1 Test Server and stating emphatically they made a massive mistake and screwed up big time. I personally got a years paid free time on my account, several others got the same or much more.

Since that day there has never been a server wipe in the entire history of EQ1/EQ2 Test Server. They also created a second Test Server called the Testcopy Server, and use a Beta Only Server in EQ1 now to test more volatile and unstable code is tested.

So no, there will be no wipes on this normal Test Sever.

server wide froglok unlock quest is bugged and gets wiped on test for some reason, one of devs promised to do something about it (eventually) but for now you can still do the individual unlock for your account

Test server has done the unlock-the-froglok raid at least 3 times. Server resets put it back to being treated like we never did it. It might get done again somewhen in the future if enough people are up for it. Till then - do the individual quest. *shrugs*

Purr~
