This might be a stupid question but: Does the number of quests, items in bags/bank, icons, macros, alts, buffs or other stuff affect how long it takes to zone? Something that makes older accounts slower?

My brother just started playing EQ2 and he got all files from me so we were running the game with same settings and UI. We noticed he was able to zone like twice as fast as me even tho we have almost identical computers and connections. I tried his account on my computer and... I didn't get all these random slowdown- / freeze-thingys when loading a zone that I usually get. How is it possible that one account is faster than the other?

Did some tests by zoning like crazy between CL and DW on both accounts (rebooted computer between tests):

Brothers new account: Speed was almost the same every time. 13-14 secs CL-> DW and 8-9 secs DW->CL.

My old account: Loading-times were all over the place. 14-32 secs CL->DW and 10-21 secs DW->CL.

Greetings,

You might want to try logging into your account on his computer and have him log into his account on your computer. That should tell us whether the issue is being caused by the computers or the accounts. I'm guessing that the slower loading time is caused by the computer, not the account. Even with similar hardware there can be dramatic differences between computer performance.

computers may be (close to twins) but is one of you running anit-virus the other isnt? are u both hard wired or wireless?

anyone else may be using the bandwidth while you run your zoning test?

DH
