I have a level 40 character(PVE) that is a level 70 craftsman. I'd like to get the 71-80 books for this character but my understanding is that the books are no-trade? does that mean the only way to get the books is to level my 40 toon to 71+?

"I'd like to get the 71-80 books for this character but my understanding is that the books are no-trade?"-snip-As I understand it there ARE books in which you DO have to be a cetain adventure level to acquire/use...but unless you're referring to the TSO craft books I think those are just limited to the books from Island of Mara. However you can buy the regular/standard 71 - 80 books from the tradeskiller person who normally sells the "basic" books.Hope I could help:-Bibbles McQuibble of Kithicor-

All essentials books can be purchased from your tradeskill location.

Only special books require any special circumstances to get them. Advanced books drop as loot but can also, for 60 to 69 and 70-79, be purchased from a faction merchant (Maj'dul and Kunark). Other special recipe books might require faction, are a special loot drop, or can only be picked up in adventure instances.

The Kunark and Moors factions which have special recipes also have a tradeskill means to gain that faction.

Far Seas Supply Division has only a tradeskill means to gain it's faction.

Your tradeskill society's faction can also only be gained by tradeskill means.

Common and 'normal' advanced books: http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/a...tr=040000000000

Special recipes: http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/a...tr=040000000000

** slaps forehead**

I didn't even think to look... started reading wiki's last night and got the impression you had to go somewhere special to get them. Thanks much for the answers and kindness

If so, those are available from merchants (in Bathezid's Watch and Riliss for the 71-75 books, requires 10K faction with either, and in Danak for the 76-79 books, again requires 10K faction with them). There are tradeskill quests and writs you can run for Bathezid's, Riliss and Danak to get you the faction required. You'll need tradeskill level of 70 for the Bathezid/Riliss quests, and 75 for the Danak quests, but there's no adventure level requirement.

The Advanced books are also available on the broker, and the Essentials books can be bought from your regular city recipe-book merchant.
