Ive read the post here describing the new specs, and the one on EQ2 wire, but it sort of seems that we are specializing the races into being partiularly set for 1 or 2 classes, doesnt it? Why should say, an ogre mage, be at a disadvantage?

From a Lore standpoint, presumably some few hundred years after EQ1 by now all races have become somewhat adept at most, if not all classes? This just seems to be putting us into even more of a cookie cutter system. Why now, do those who choose to play unusal combinations get a disadvantage?

I think that there is a key factor missing in all of this: Choice. I'll use the example given here on the forums with the "version system" as races ABC use Version one, DEF use Version 2 and so on.Why not simply let the innate abilities remain the same... giving some specificity to the races BUT let us CHOOSE which Version of skillsets we want?

Maybe someone has a ratonga that lifts weights and is better suited to a tank, or a troll healer. Variety - surely all members of the same race cant have the exact same skills?

I submit to the dev team that given the option, it is preferable to choose the skillset associated with their race, without having to totally change the race of their existing characters to get them back to what they are now.

Just my 2 copper
