Well i got my first set of shard armor, but its purple? Why? Everytime a cool set comes out, barring the Nem Anhk set, its purple. Why not gold, or silver, or something cool looking? Whats the deal with purple? Seems like we templars get the shaft on cool looking gear.

Whats the deal with casting times on our spells? I know we are a powerful class but we are being gimped with long casting times. Currently i have 14% reduction on casting but its still too damned slow. Sure i could get some gear and eventually make it 25% reduction, but i still feel shafted and gimped. All other healing classes are much faster, its to the point where i can no longer solo heal at higher levels practically unless i spam heal. It would be nice to see our class either get more DPS to offset the long casting times, or have our casting times cut by 15 to 25%.

We are supposed to be these uber healers with low dps, now we are uber only when we have the luxury of time to cast our spells and our DPS is nothing to even worry about against any class or PVE Mob.

Ive played this game for almost 5 years now and i think templars are weaker today then in the past while most other classes got better, ours is getting worse.

Just my opinion. Ive decided to make an Assassin just to feel uber these days so i dont care much if nothing gets changed but i thought i would put this out there for SOE/Players to read and contemplate. Maybe things will change, but i doubt it very much. I used to love my templar, now im just finding it boring to say the least and with the gimped casting times i feel like its almost worth changing to a shaman atleast they can solo heal without issue.

I understand your frustrations. However, probably most if not all the healer classes feel their class is gimped. It's just the nature of being a healer. Certainly there are improvements I'd love to see happen for templars - dps one of them. However, if templars aren't "uber" healers (I'm not sure any healer class is, comparatively speaking) we're still awfully darn good at it.

Yes, AA lines and gear play an important role - as is true with any class, healer or not. There have been a lot of discussions offering good strategies on how to improve healing and dps. While casting speed is an issue, because most of our heals are reactives I don't think it's as big an issue as it's made out to be. We have the luxury of casting our heals before combat even begins. What's more critical then casting speed, tactically speaking, is timing when we cast our heals. So if some of our spells cast alot slower then I like, I still can have heals going consistently through out a fight.

As for dps *sigh* Well, we do have to work hard at it. Still, I find I can solo mobs that my high dps Swashy can't. It takes a long time maybe, but it shows that dps isn't everything. We're not too shabby at soloing. And if our dps is needed in a group/raid, we're doomed anyway.

As for armor - some artist some where just doesn't like templars lol

Purple gear sucks, I've railed before about the utter laziness and lack of creativity TSO brought. Especially the fact that every single Templar will have purple armor, makes for an interesting sight, a legion of eggplanted Templars.

As for cast/reuse you will soon figure out how much more important this is than even heal crit/healmod for a healer. Of course don't ignore those, but work on all these skills as you level up and treasure those cast/reuse items you find. Just wait until you get your cast/reuse just where you want it so you are satisfied, but then start running out of power and need to address that shortcoming with gear.

I don't think we are gimped at all. There are a couple of loose ends the devs should tie up like Sacrifice and our fubared healing stance, but overall we are a very strong healer.

You're halfway there!

In all complete honesty, the only way to play TSO is to get a bunch of proc gear (Rune Etched Helm, Etheral Mist Gauntlets, etc.) and then overheal praying you get a proc each time. It drains your mana really fast, but you'll be fine with Manawell proc items until you start clearing Zarrakon and Kultak, earning you a belt and neckpiece.

Inquisitors have the same casting speed that Templars have. Shaman Also have the same base casting times on their heals however they do not get 14% casting speed from AA, instead they can get 8 reuse. Additionally templars get much faster when they get their epic weapon with a 10% cast speed increase on the fabled version which gets bumped to 20% with the mythical. I have a mythical templar and a mythical Mystic, and I found casting speed to be a lot easier to come by on the templar. Both healers have thier healing stance and with that the templar still has 20% more cast speed. I also have a 75 inquisitor and found that the templar has 6 more healing spells than the inquisitor at the same level Templars also reduce the incomming damage to the tank by about 11% before any healing comes in through stoneskins.

Really it's arguable whether templar or defiler is the single strongest healing class in the game. And in the current environment pretty much every healer needs to spam heal. the damage that comes into the group is really designed for 2 healers on average but all the groups want solo heals so we hotta work our [Removed for Content] off to keep everyone alive.

This from the perspective of someone who has raided as a Templar, Inquisitor, Defiler, and Mystic. My warden is still low level heh.
