Ok EQ2 is crashing right after the "SOE" window (scanning for updates window). It doesnt even load the "Accept Deny" window it just crashes and I get the message "EQ2 has stopped working" for Vista. The game has worked up untill today and for some reason its not working now. The error messages I get is:

"Launchpad.exe Has stopped working"

Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: LaunchPad.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 47bc829c Fault Module Name: StackHash_5c84 Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00750008 OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 5c84 Additional Information 2: 856abacc2cc5627d8f1328246560efcd Additional Information 3: 357c Additional Information 4: ac40f56fdef6e3342594b16cce770b1e

A c0000005 error is normally a driver, can you read the stickied post for the dxdaig andpost the requested sections

Also two tips for Vista/Windows 7

1. install the game outside of the ..Program Files directory, this directory is handled differenting in the security model of those two OS's

2. try setting the properties to Windows XP compatility and the Run As Administrator on the icon

Aye. Please post the requested DxDiag sections when you can! I'd also further recommend Wingrider's suggestions as well.

I believe setting it that way is causing problems for some people after the recent patch. Trying running the game without using the compatibility mode if you haven't already.

It crashes right when it goes to load the login screen so I cant even update the game I am getting so frustrated I have no idea whats going on and all my other games work just fine.

I removed all of the EQ2 files. I re-downloaded the installer and folowed all the directions. I even did the dxdiag and it said "no problems found" on every single page. Yet right after the little window with the "SOE" on it it crashes as it starts to load the EQ2 Launcher.exe EULA. Here is the error I keep getting:

Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: LaunchPad.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 47bc829c Fault Module Name: StackHash_5c84 Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00690053 OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 5c84 Additional Information 2: 856abacc2cc5627d8f1328246560efcd Additional Information 3: 357c Additional Information 4: ac40f56fdef6e3342594b16cce770b1e

I am about to give up hope.... nothing anyone is suggesting is helping. This problem just happend all of a sudden. One day the game was working fine then the next its not. I didnt even get to download any patches for over a month now (since I havent been able to play for that long).

Which version of the patcher are you using? If you haven't already, please try using the most recent version of the station launcher, available here:

http://launcher.station.sony.com/

Also, are you using a firewall with that system? If so, open the exception list for that firewall and delete any entries for EQ2, Everquest 2, or launchpad. Then restart the computer and try to run the game again by selecting 'run as administrator'. At that point you should be prompted to allow or deny again. Select allow and hopefully that will let you in.

Is this how I am going to start the game from now on? I am so confused as to whats going on I used to use EQ2 Maps to start the game for Profit UI. It seems to be downloading something so I guess its working? we'll see if I can log in.

Once you have updated the game then you should be able to start it using any method you prefer. The fact that it's downloading is a good sign, though. Let us know if you experience any issues with the new patcher.
