Nice to know how it works (random zone rather than a rota)

from my experiences over the last week (running zones and the amount of loot-right auctions being run), its quite a big increase in the chances of Fabled loot (Every hotzone I ran saw at least one exquisite chest).

legendary/treasured rates do not seem to be changed.

Rqron wrote:

Just another worthless ""feature"" concocted by some stoned SOE employee that only benefits a few and not the average players that could care less about instances.

What a strange response. There are many different gameplay styles in EQ2. Solo questing, Duo questing, Heroic dungeon running, and Raiding. There is more than enough solo and duo quest opportunities in this game. There are something like 6,000 quests in the game.

If grouping instances were "worthless" and not something players wanted, do you think SoE would have spend 70% of the development time on The Shadow Odyssey on group instances? One of the biggest complaints about these instances is that the documented drop rate (which can be confirmed at EQ2.ZAM.com) for some of the better items are less than 1%. So this increases the % drop rate for all Fabled items in one instance per day.

Heh. If the DD synched up with the Hot ZOne, it woudl erase the concerns people have that the welcome screen reflects the mission quest name and not the mission quest zone.

One flaw in the hot zone is that there will be one less hot zone than there are daily missions. I say this because Obelisk is one of the daily missions, but it contains no fabled items so there would be no reason to make it a hot zone. Perhaps putting Palace of Ferzhul instead would correct this?

I guess I wouldn't mind both bonuses applying to one zone every now and then.

A few questions for you Rothgar (or more specifically, for the programmer that came up with the Hot Zones code):

Does the rotation include repeats, or is it set by day # of the month instead of being a continuing rotation? (Crucible has appeared twice already)

Will this include TSO zones that do not normally have Daily Double shard quests: Palace of Ferzhul, Kurns Tower: Breaching the Void, and Emperor's Athenaeum. If it does not already, could we get those added?

Mine said Scion of Ice when I logged on - but running it didn't yield any better chests than the normal Ornate. I know that it isn't a guarantee - but with the bugging zone picking it makes me wonder if it was REALLY Scion. ;p

Could the devs please look at the hot zone (HZ) rollover time? because currently on Valor the HZ changes 17:00 local time which is somewhat messed up. Currently at 17:00 GMT+1 (currently +2 due to DST) Valor gets the HZ that the US servers get on the following calendar day.

Example: at 17:00 on Sep 13th the HZ switched to Ravenscale, whereas the US servers had Mistmoore Manor all throughout the day so it seems were somewhat ahead of the rotation for whatever reason.

Should be fixed in the next hotfix. If it is still broken after the next hotfix toss me a PM.

is the rotation schedule (partly) know already? dont see it on the wiki yet...

(whats todays?)

That is why we have not added it to the wiki yet.

Furthermore, they are going to be mixing the rotation up so that zones don't come in clumps (3 LP, 3 EF, etc., all in a row).

21 days after they do that we should have the full rotation and able able to put it up on the wiki.

But anyway, today's should be Deep Forge, at least until the evening when it changes at that odd time, assuming Zoltaroth's hotfix doesn't go in.

It's back to Anathema (what it started on... twice... ) as of 9/15. Either they keep resetting the rotation, or there is no set rotation. This is the third time Anathema has been HZ since implemented.

Zoltaroth said he was working on a fix for that, hopefully that will go in with GU53 on Tuesday.
