Hello, I have been playing EQ2 again for about 2 months now and recently decided to go ahead and up my subscription to a station pass so I could check in and play SWG also.

The first thing I did was download the Station Launcher and re-download SWG through it, I have all the expansions and adventure packs(eq2) in case that matters. SWG downloaded smoothly in the background and is now playable through the launcher.

Now here is where the problem begins, EQ2 seems to want to re-download 10.8 GB of Information no matter what I do.

I have had 0 problems with EQ2 up untill this point, the only way I can even play it right now is by creating a shortcut straight from the .exe file. This doesn't lead into any type of download, just a small sign-inbox and then to character list, of which I'm affraid is going to cause problems once I actually do need to patch EQ2.

I have no administrator issues with Vista, SWG is working perfectly through Station launcher, and I have tried every solution I could find while searching forums and knowledge base.

As of right now I have 4 seperate EQ2 folders listed in descending order under Sony Online entertainment, two of which seem complete but I can't be sure and the others I have no clue of the purpose.

So in summary I'm playing EQ2 through the exe file which I'm not sure I can update, the launcher will not recognise that I have every EQ2 file(been playing full game previous to Station Launcher install). I have many unneeded files probably causing problems due to the station launcher but somehow SWG works great through it.

And yes, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the launcher with no luck in regards to EQ2.

I'm hoping I can get this figured out because EQ2 is the main reason for my station pass, If I can't get it to work properly even though SWG is doing fine I hate to say but I will just have to stop using that service as much as I would hate to.

This isn't meant to come out so negatively written, but I'm just really irritated with it at this point and I have been searching on my own for 2 days through post after post.

ps-just to clarify re-subscribed for about 2 months, I've been playing off and on four years now.

Go into the launcher options and set the installation path for EQ2 to be the directory that contains your files.

I even tried that, for each Everquest2 file, and for the parent file label Sony (rest of name), with no luck. The scan will run to 100% and stop with a greyed out continue button also.

Thank you for the advice though, appreciated.

If it's in the program files directory then you might want to cut and paste it into a different folder like C:games. Then point the station launcher to that location in the station menu. If you have the game in the program files folder then it's possible that a security feature is blocking the update.

Hi Daniel, thanks for the responce.

At the moment I have Sony Online entertainment files in c:/programs/ and also in the local low area, now the ones in local low were not even viewable untill I manually un-hid them.

At first I tried to point the station launcher to the C:programs area files which were the ones used by the regular launcher or so I thought/think. This ended up giving me multiple instances of /Everquest2 file listings, but only one of them actually complete(excluding the original launcher, unless I just haven't located it yet).

At this point I followed the instructions posted in the knowledge base to change the file destination to the one batch of files that were complete. This still did not work even though I can enter the game using the everquest2.exe which sends you directly to a small sign-in box for username and password, no updater inbetween of anykind.

Now I knew the game was working, I actually logged in and played various characters using this method without problem, but I'm quite sure when update time comes It is going to be a problem for me.

I even tried moving the files that I knew to be complete back to the "new" default location found in local low and directing the launcher to that, thus creating yet another everquest2 folder which is only partial.

At this point I have many extra folders and no updater, but I have located which folder is the up to date as of now.

I also have swg installed and working flawlessly through the launcher, so it has to be EQ2 specific. My admin settings/firewall/anti-virus have all been set accordingly, and to some degree i would think unsafe but I just want to get this working.

I uninstalled station launcher and reinstalled it, still no good for EQ2 but SWG went right back to flawless.

I'm affraid that if i do a complete uninstall of all the extra files, or even all of the remnants of EQ2 I'm going to be looking at the very least re-downloading both EQ2 at roughly 10.8 GB and then SWG at roughly 8.2 GB, factoring this in with allready the previous installs and the days of trying everything listed has pretty much pushed the limit of what I can do while attending the dreaded RL duties as well.

Unless a miracle patch comes down from SOE heaven for my launcher problems I just don't know. Is it possible to get up to date disks of these games that I have purchased so I can at least get back to basic install and updaters without the days of payed service being wasted? I can freely rid myself of all these bulk unneeded files then without worry.

Sorry for the wall of text, and thank you again for taking time to respond.
