Tonight, while wandering around in Lavastorm, ESET NOD32 Antivirus popped up the oddest warning. It told me that what was probably a version of the "PDF/Exploit.Gen trojan" had attempted to access a strange URL ending in "pdfNode.php," and that the threat was detected upon access to the Web by EverQuest2.exe.

I logged out and did a full scan of my computer with both the antivirus program and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Nothing suspicious was found.

Would anyone have any idea what that was all about?

You dod te right thing to scan your system, although a additionalstep would have been to been to utilze a independant online scanner to verifiy

I also changed my password, just to be safe.

If it was a false positive, what could cause such a specific one? It listed a URL with which my computer was supposedly trying to make contact. (I'm only not listing that URL here in case there are rules against such things -- for instance, if it's a real site that sponsors virus attacks.)

Greetings,

While I don't know what initiated that specific warning, I have had similar warnings in the past when playing games online. Those scanners are usually pretty loose in their interpretation of 'virus like' activity. In this situation it was probably a combination of EQ2 and something in the background that made the antivirus suspicious.
