Hi,

I have been having some problems with EQ2 since returning to the game 2-3 months ago, while the problem can occur just sat in the guild hall it appears to happen more frequently while raiding.

This most often occurs while fighting, I will be going through my attack cycle and then all the graphics freeze. Sound appears to function normally. At this point I can type "/p crashed again - need quick camp" my group will see this although I can't. I can also chat in the ingame voice. I then type "/camp", I can also choose "camp to character selection" from the graphical menu (note this part of the UI is still functional). Re-logging fixs the problem and i'm able to carry on until it happens again.

While frozen I can still use my combat arts, ie if we are fighting something slightly harder I usally wait till the mob is dead before camping so the grp has my buffs. When using the combart arts I have no visual sign as to whenthey are reavailable so i just click them randomly. On clicking the CA it appears queued and likewise for the next CA till i can have 20 odd CA's queued (according to the UI). The people i'm grouped with can see my macro's messages so the CA's seem to be working.

The problem has mainly occured on my dirge but this is the one i play the most and it has happened on alts.

Here is a list of thing I have tried to fix it:

Bought a new pc: Originally I though this was a performance thing so I have upgraded my pc the only things I am using from the old pc is the monitor. The old PC was an ATI athlon 2600 running Windows XP with nvidia graphics card. The new pc is an Intel i7 running Windows 7 with Ati 4870 graphics card. As i'm running on Windows 7 i installed EQ2 to c:gamessony..... after installing the game I copied the directories from my old pc except cache, logincache-eu

I have deleted eq2.ini, eq2_default.ini, eq2_recent.ini, everquest.exe, cache, and the spiltpaw_xxxx files. I then reinstalled Profit UI, eq2map and loaded the default 1600x1200 profit ui profile.

Fearing that i copied a corrupt file across I did a full file scan from the eq2 launcher.

I installed directx 9 on to my windows 7 box.

Have tried changing sound from the miles to dolby, note i don't have a creative EAX option.

If you need any more infomation then I will try and get that, any suggestions where to go next with this?

Thanks in advance

Greetings,

If the problem is occurring even after putting the files on a new computer then there must be a corrupt file in there. At this point it may be necessary to perform a full reinstall. I know that's not the most convenient solution, but a full file scan and deleting the settings files hasn't worked for you so it seems like the only option.

I took a portable hard drive round to a friends house and copied his Eq2 directory and played off that, unfortunately that has still not fixed the issue. He has never had the problem.

I'm now left scratching me head... only thing I can think to change now is the reuter.

Any other ideas ?
