Crashing when camping or changing characters

<p>Were any of you crashing when camping or switching to other characters on the Test Server?  If so, have you noticed if the problem has gone away since we published GU53?</p>

<p>When I log in to a character about half the time I crash.  And yes this is post 53 being pushed to Test.</p>

<p>I play on test_copy off and on whenever there are big game updates like this one. (Note: When test_copy add actually works.)</p><p>In short: <strong>YES</strong></p><p>Longer story: Before GU53, I would crash about <strong>75%</strong> of the time while <strong>zoning/camping</strong>. After GU53 I crash about <strong>35-50%</strong> of the time while <strong>camping</strong>, and have not crashed a single time while zoning(atleast not yet.)</p>

<p>On test server:</p><p>Pre-LU 53 I was crashing almost every time I camped between characters and about half the time when zoning.</p><p>Post LU 53 I have crashed once when zoning (last night leaving the Hedge instance) and about 30-35% of the time when I camp between characters.</p><p> So while there's been much improvement, I still warn people that I'm switching chars and may crash.</p>

<p>I'm also crashing some of the time when camping between characters, and sometimes when zoning out of an instance, on Test. It seems especially likely when trying to camp between Test and Test_Copy characters, for whatever that may be worth.</p><p>(PVP is definitely not "my thing," so I'm not really using Test_Copy, beyond quick peeks at my bigger houses, till that phase of testing's done. <p>Happened again yesterday, just from /camp CharacterName (from one on Test to another on Test).</p><p>Here's the error message -- hope that maybe it will help.  =)</p><p><img src="http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a196/Eden_Evergreen/Temp/Sept2009camptocharCrash.gif" width="430" height="151" /></p><p>(PS - yes, I checked for a crash log, but it had the _old on it, so probably wouldn't be any assistance.</p><p>Windows XP home edition runs my computer, in case that makes a difference.)</p>

I don't play on test - but have an issue related to this so thought i'd share. I two box, have for a couple of months now. I've played EQ2 for about five months straight now (after a 3 year AFK) and have never crashed when camping to another toon. However, last night, for the first time ever, I had this issue crop up. I was camping between toons and about 50% of the time, i would crash out of game. Is it possible that there is a file that gets larger as you play and then becomes corrupt or something?

<p>Yup, crashing on test still..</p><p>I crash nearly every time I camp to an alt on live, on test it seems like it happens less often but it still happens.</p>

<p>If I'm on Atan and I /camp Burninattor there is a high chance that I will crash. Perhaps 50% or higher.</p><p>If I /camp asdkjasdas and go to the character select screen then do a fill 10 count, click Burninattor and log into world, I never crash.</p><p>Not sure if thats helpful or not, but I hop thru my 15 mythed toons on a fairly consistant basis, and I'm perhaps more familiar with this crash than most players.</p>

<p>Been crashing when switching characters on the live server since about 2 weeks ago so this is not unique to test.</p>

<p>Oddly enough, I used to crash on Live regularly, but since I patched Test a week or so ago, I've stopped crashing when I change characters on either Live or Test with voice chat active.  That said, my friends who also play on Test Copy occasionally have still had problems crashing...  We'll see how it goes after today's patch <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.</p>
