When I logged onto test to see the new achievement system, I actually found it to be quite fun to fill them out by exploring around Norrath and stuff..

But I noticed that many of the zones which I have fully 100% explored (in the case of the Commonlands, quite literally due to a hole in the wall that let me explore the mountains,) are not 100% filled out. In the case of the Commonlands, only 1 area was explored, even though I travel there quite often for Befallen, and more recently, Fallen Gate.

I'm guessing that the timeframe that the achievements are being recorded from only goes back to a certain time.

It says I'm only missing the Sathirian Highway from Fens of Nathsar, and I know i've been there.

All of Kingdom of Sky is completed though, so some of them don't make sense.

I'm not complaining or anything. I'm just wondering. If anything, it'll be more fun to go back and reexplore all these areas to earn the Achievements (Love the visual effects when it happens btw.)

My only complaint is that the Collection Quest achievements arn't counted towards the Total Quests Completed achievements. If they were, I'd be well past 3500 quests completed.

It goes off of your AAs. If you earned AA experience for PoIs and kills, it is recorded. If you did not earn AA experience when you killed mobs and discovered PoIs, it won't be recorded.

It's also possible that certain PoIs are bugged as far as the achievement goes. But it's no big deal to go back and re-discover them.

I don't play on test, I just read the forums to find out what's coming up. I sincerely hope that these achievements are retroactive. My main has every Lore & Legend, done hundreds of quests and thousands of tradeskill combines, etc. etc. I know that the Achievements don't give anything but bragging rights, but I would be very unhappy to not get credit for all the work I've done over the past (almost) 5 years, and someone just starting would be getting credit immediately.

Please let us know what counts and how far back it will go!

You might want to read my guide. It'll become pretty obvious pretty quickly which ones are retroactive.

Thanks Cyanide, this is great! I found another, longer thread on this topic here too.

"How far back in time are the achievements timed from?" When you got 200 AAs.

I think Rothgar... I have a goldfish memory sorry. Anyway, someone said that there are points of interests that do count toward the new achievement system that did not give old achievement / new advancement XP dings. If that makes any sense. Like, it has a name that shows up on the screen, but doesn't give AA XP or ding about discovering it.

Or something like that... *ducks*

I was just curious to know what the math was behind them.

I think the information is only kept from the last AA reset (EoF I think) I scowered the commonlands back when KoS came out, but never really went back excep for getting from one place to the other, however there are MANY kills and quests missing from the acheevements list (it says I don't have the bush in KJ. but I sure can port ther from a druid protal) this could be a bug from test copying.. but it's on both the toon I left there from the last GU testing and the one I coppied over reciently

(this late at night, I'm too tired to care about typos)

As much as I've had fun on Test dinging new Achievements, this could have waited for the XPAC. I only say that because I'm maxed at 200 AA and I'm not gonna run around to spots that WOULD give AA dings. I'd rather just wait for the XPAC when AA increases. Then I can run around and get AA and Achievement dings at the same time.

That said though, I LOVE the Achievement system. Awesome job Rothgar! And I look forward to new Achievements being added in through other GUs. The possiblities are endless!

it's up to you is you want to wait to do allt he running around or not, the points in the new "achevements" system will count even if you do not get AA at that time (from what I understand you can still get AA last when the cap goes up, but that's a discussion of another thread)

Mostly because I already have.
