I have been trying for two days to get the trial to work. After paying the 15.00 fee for the trial, the stupid thing still won't play. On the station loader, it says all servers are down. On Station.com, it says all servers are up. Does anybody know what is going on? It really sucks to pay for a free trial that doesn't work from a company that doesn't have anything resembling tech support.

The trial is free. Here's info on how to contact support. There is NOT 24/7 support. The server status page is useful: http://eq2players.station.sony.com/...twork_status.vm

As far as I know, servers have been up all weekend. My bet will be that you are having issues connecting. The port information for the ports you need EQ2 to be able to talk through is available in the Connection Support Forum. If you need guidance on configuring your local system, I recommend http://www.portforward.com/

Manwhile, to help figure out what's happening, you should probably runn a tracert and pathping and show us the results.

First, you need a DOS window. Open up the Start menu, choose the Run command, type command (Vista) or cmd (Win2K) and press Enter.

Next, type the following. Hit enter after each command and wait for the prompt before typing the next:

ipconfig /all > c:eq2info.txt tracert unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txtpathping unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

This will create a text file in your C: drive, which you can open using Notepad and then paste the results over here. In place of "unrest" you can use the name of your EQ2 server.

This is definitely a connection issue of some sort so the information requested above will be helpful(tracert/pathping). It would be nice to get some basic information about your connection as well. What type of ISP do you use? Is it cable, DSL, wifi, dial-up, satellite, etc? Do you use a router? Do you have any active security programs like a firewall or antivirus? That information will help us locate and resolve the problem.

I am running XP Pro on a with a P4 2.4 ghz, 1gb of ram. Video is a GeForce4 MX4000. I am on cable with Comcast, this machine is networked via a Wireless "g" connecting at 54kbps. I have tried going direct into my router with a cable with no change. My antivirus is Symantec, which I have tried disabled, again with no change. I can't do the pathping and tracert by substituting the name of my server, because I can't get to a server to get the name. The only server I see is the test server. That is the problem. On the station console, all it says is that servers are down. I have tried re-installing the game and loading from the EQ2 page, I get essentially the same results. I doesn't say servers down, but it only shows me the test server and never connects to anything. Please help, this is beyond frustrating.
