View Full Version : New racials don't seem very creative...

From what I can tell, the racials are seperated into two general types for each race. Melee and Ranged/spell interchangably. There is no distinction as to wether you are a mage or priest for the spell part or if you are a scout or fighter on the melee part and certain races seem to be even more left out as far as outlandish racial combos go.

With my Warlock for example, who is a Sarnak gets absolutely no in-combat or out of combat racials that truly benefit him in any way, shape or form. In fact, the only useful ability he had which was Break will which lowered the resist rate of taunts and spells by a paltry 2% on live is now gone making it even worse.

It basically goes like this now:

Race

1 2 3 4 (All auto active) Although I still dont understand why races with aquavision dont just have it passive.

scaling attribute

1 2

Mage - Melee, Scout - Melee, Priest - Melee etc

1 2 3 4

non-combat

1 2 3 4

+hp/pwr

1 2

resist

1 2

tradeskill

1 2 3 4

Anyways, it can vary in the form of Mage/Fighter, Mage/Scout, Healer/Fighter etc. and overall doesnt leave much room for options and makes the original reasons for griping even more pronounced with certain races still being more advantageous as certain classes.

My Warlock for example gains absolutely nothing from this change and in fact loses the one thing on live that does not make his current race selection a perceived error. Most of the racials in fact dont appear to be changed at all as far as the Dark Elf/Arasai ones go which minus the dark envy/fury appear unchanged.

There is even more overlap with the races now and aside from different names they are mostly just confined to around 3 or 4 different things per category total. Overall, this change doesnt seem to have accomplished anything, and if it goes live it will only hurt some race/class combinations even more.

If your Scout or Mage is a Sarnak you will be out of luck.

They wanted to get the racials done first.

Allot of them are cookie cutter. It's kinda boring, allot of the new stuff like disarm/mending/tracking/etc is fun. But the rest is exrreamely cookie cutter.

They are pretty poor -- some of them are nothing more than copies of Tinkered items. Really junky to do day. Surely they could do better than this.

I know 10 year olds with more creativity, maybe Sony should hire them.
