Test Server - Probably a stupid question!!

<p>Hey Testers,</p><p>I want to start getting into the testing phases - Is it posisble to -> Transfer my normal server toon to testing (rather than having to start over) and if so how do you do it.</p><p>Sorry if this has been asked/answered before the search functions on these boards aren't very good, IMO.</p>

There are two Test servers. "Test" is a persistent server like any other, and folks level from 1 to 80 with XP bonus, but otherwise it's a normal server. There are people who play on it as their regular server. "Test Copy" is a server where you can copy your toons over, or roll a new toon and boost it straight to 80, with 200 AAs, armor, weapons, etc. for testing specific content like certain group or raid zones. Test Copy is periodically reset, and is pretty much a ghost town whenever there isn't something specific to test. So on your character you want to copy on a live server, type /testcopy add and within 24 hours, your character will be copied over to Test Copy. Note that you'll need to setup a Test version of EQ2 (instructions found elsewhere), and you will need to create a brand new character and then log back to the Character Select screen for any of your "copied" characters to show up. In other words if I copy Feldon over, and there are no other characters on Test, then when I get to Character Select, it will be blank. I have to create a new toon and then go back to CS to see my copied toon(s).

<p>Sadly the Test Copy server doesn't have the buffer npc up all the time. Because the NPC needs to be hand spawned by a Dev or QA guy, it's not ever up unless something is being tested. Right now they're testing new raid content and the npc is being spawned for that but I think once the raid is over he's despawned. I go check every day and never find him.</p>

<p>Currently, Moosh <Being Helpful> can be found outside the West Freeport gate in CL, at Hate's Envy in DLW and Chrykori Isle in TD.  I don't think he's up in any "good" areas right now.</p>

<p>You didn't miss any thing.  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  When you start up the Test client, you get the option of choosing from the Test and Test_copy servers to make new characters on.  Remember to make at least one new character on the Test_copy server before you /testcopy add any of your existing characters.</p>

I have to create a new toon and then go back to CS to see my copied toon(s).</blockquote><p>The only thing I would add to this excellent explanation is that "Test Copy" will often be switched between PvE and PvP from time to time as and when the Dev's need to test things.  Also there is no guarentee that "Test Copy" won't be wiped of all characters whenever a Dev feels like it (usually when the server has been switched a few times or there is a glut of copied characters in the database).</p><p>If you want to play on a test server without worry about PvP or being deleted then you need to roll a character on the "Test" server.  Note: it is not possible to transfer an existing character to "Test".</p>

<p>When the test servers came down for patching yesterday, Moosh wandered off home to do some chores.</p><p>I'll hop back on today and respawn him for you guys.</p><p>He'll be in the same locations.  Antonica - NQ gate; Commonlands - WFP gate; Darklight Wood - Hate's Envy; TD - Island thinger; Gfay - Nursery.</p>
