I have the same problem as the one mentioned in this thread: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=456249When I try to update the game, I get the message: There was a problem moving C:Program FilesSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIlp_tempEverQuest2.exe_delta_7983_270.patched to C:Program FilesSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIEverQuest2.exe.I tried disabling virus related programs, but that didn't work.

I realised that my everquest 2 folder was set to read-only, but, I can't seem to uncheck it. Whenever I do, and I check back, the option is automatically checked again.

Make sure you are running as an admin.

Another option is just move your EQ2 folder out of the Program Files directory. It's evil, I tell ya.

I assume you are using Vista or Win7 RC? Those operating systems place extra protection on the program files folder and setting it to read only is one of the side effects. Try moving the game to a different folder such as C:GamesEverquest .

Also, if you haven't already, go through these steps:

1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"

I've followed the steps given.

I've moved the Everquest 2 folder into a new folder called "Games" outside of Program Files. The error didn't change, so I restarted the computer. Now the following message comes up when I try to start the Station Launcher:

StationLauncher.exe has stopped workingA problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

It will break them. Move the program back to it's original location, then use the Station Launcher to move the program to the desired location. I'm at work so can't provide the exact steps required but hopefully you can work it out.

Guess I have been breaking the game since release, have never installed the game via the CD's, nor have I not used the copy over the wire method to move the game between drives and machines with no issues.

Add to the fact that you went off on the wrong tangent - the current version of the laucner allows you to specify the directory to install the launcher in, AND alter the startup location of the game with no problems

1. install launcher in the directory you wish to start up from

2. enter the preference ( or what it is called now, can;t remember), select the correct game, enter the target directory where you wish the game to reside

3. if it is a fresh install, start the patcher

3A. If it is a move of the game directory, open windows explorer, drill to the old directory, right click, select copy or move, the target the destination and copy/move it there.

4. verify the launcher is configured to the correct tagret directory, and start the patch segement

This works perfectly, EQ2 doe not require the use any registry entries to locate anything, as mentioned have never installed any portion of eq2 from a MSI install application. Applications that depend on registry entries to gather information cannot be moved in this method, but this game can with no issues.
