View Full Version : Lag disappeared after disconnecting Linksys router

I play on AB, the most populated and laggy server out there. People complain about it all the time. Well, I decided to just unplug my Linksys router and directly connect my modem to the back of my PC and the lag completely disappeared. I mean, completely. Spells cast instantly now, no more rubberbanding, etc... Why is this? What is wrong with my router settings? I've reset it multiple times. Any suggestions to have this great of a connection with my router plugged in?

Was it an instant thing? (IE you were lagging, unplugged and went directly, logged back in and the lag was gone?). If so, make sure you have port forwarding set up for EQ2, that might speed things up a bit.

You should be able to correct this by port forwarding. The following website is a great resource that walks you through the process:

Simply select the router you are using, then select the 'skip this advertisement' button in the upper right, and finally select Everquest 2 on the following page.
Hi everyone. Thanks for the awesome responses. I'm going to go ahead and try the portforward website right now and report my findings before I try anything else.
