What resolution are you running the game at? What quality settings are you using(high performance/balance/high quality)?

As a first suggestion I would try lowering the settings for your particle effects and shadows. Those options have a large effect on performance.

Hi there,

i'm running eq² @1680x1050 with a custom performance mode. but it barely changes anything to set the details to balanced or performance... as i said i did some performance guides to tweak everything, and in some places i have over 60 fps but in some places i got only 15 or so!

i'll try your hints but i already turned shadows off and particles from low to high... my system is running perfectly and everquest is too at some points, but not always and that's what bugging me.

sorry for my bad english i'm still learning

Well, based on your system specs you will probably have some performance dips in city zones like Qeynos harbor, guild halls, and Timorous Deep. You will experience lower framerates in large groups and raids as well. The group/raid performance issues can be helped by lower or turning off spell effects per character. The city zones can see better performance with a lower number of low/high detailed characters and by lowering texture resolutions on character models.

Depending on when you are experiencing the lag, you might want to try tweaking those options.
