I just recently got this Assassin to 80 and am also looking for advice/info on how to get better DPS.

I powerleved myself up using my other account so I really was not well practiced at playing Assassin but have been making alot of headway since making 80.

Most raids that I have attended.....WoE & older RoK I getting between 4-7kDPS so have alot of work to do.

Groups is where I find I am having the most trouble......2-3k at best and I am also finding myself burning thru power like crazy. I always thought my Guardian was a power spong but nowhere near as bad as my Assassin.

Ive used the target dummy to try to get a good concel chain....and when I am able to get thru it my DPS is pretty nice considering my gear.

Gear is odd mix....2 T1 pieces, 2 T3 pieces and the rest odds and ends from instances.

I use Fabled Epic + carotidcutter

With any luck will be able to get my Myth in the next week or two.

alittle to expand on what I meant of "when not to use temp buffs" and such.

frontload and exacting provide a great deal of a DPS increase for a short period of time for us. but they are both on fairly long timers of 3 minutes, and only last about 30 seconds each. so say your in palace clearing trash and about 2 kills away from pulling the first name. the trash goes down in about 15 seconds each... so if you blow your buffs on the trash, you wont have them for the name. in my opinion, its far more important to have your best stuff available for the names, then have a high parse on trash.

so in that case, I'd just get a decent parse on the last 2 kills, saving the buffs and execute for the names. if you know you have a few minute long fight on the name, use the temp buffs early, and then by the time you get to the second name in the encounter (the one you froze) your buffs should be up again. I perfer to leave execute up for the last 10% of a names life, usually squeeze it in on by concealment chain, hit execute - then finish with fatal follow up, and that last 2-3 hits will easily hit for over 100+k if done right (a good execute for me, is about 75k, a good fatal follow up 30k, and mortal blade lately just seems ridiculous on damage near the end of my concealment chain)

honed reflexs and the other one... the DPS buff one... I always forget the name of that one, those are my last resort buffs, I dont like to use them, cause it screws with my personal pattern on timing auto attacks, so I tend to save them as a last resort, like on fights where power drain is a issue (zarrakon and such)

one last piece of gear advice.

forget about using point blank shot, and get yourself a "Dagger of Marnek" off the broker. its the best ranged item you can get DPS wise till you get a ranged weapon off zarrakon, or maybe that satchel from VP... the 4 crit, 7DPS one. theres also a decent satchel from anathema in everfrost, but personally, the dagger of marnek is still better in my opinion, as 2 crit, 2 double attack, and 51 CA mod, is hard to beat on a single item. with the dagger of marnek you have unlimited ammo (clicky every 15 minutes gives you ammo) but you lose point blank shot - which personally I never liked, its got a long recovery time on it.

A few pointers:

Prioritize Death Mark, use it every time it is up. I do hope you got it as your M2 choice.

Go into to your chat options and turn on warnings, so you will get a message when you are out of melee range. Alternativly you could set up a trigger in ACT.

Start with Mark (macro /autoattack 1 to it) debuffs and DoT's. Do your conceal chain when "dispatched" is called. Look for it in raidchat, most brigands have a bit of text going into chat. If they don't, ask them or set up a trigger in ACT. I prefer ACT because with the proper trigger it will not only tell you dispatch is cast but also whether it landed or not.

Include the blue AoE's in your conceal chain as they have a higher multiplier for Fatal Followup.

Do not wait for auto attack to take you into stealth but use crippling or quick strike. If for whatever reason your chain breaks you should be able to re enter with masked.

Do not spam all your temp buffs at once. Inspect their reuse timer and you will find a logical order.

I do not see the point of saving assassinate for a named fight, unless you are 1-2 trash mobs away from 1. Waiting to use it will only lower your zonewide parse. Granted it will be marginal but it will be lower if you wait to use it, also make sure dispatch is up.

Other then that you need to gear up. There is a list of gear on eq2flames in the assassin class section.
