Try the new station launcher. The old Patcher just well sucks.. when it gets hung up and gives you a time of like a billion minutes left, usually just shutting it down and restarting the patcher (not your computer) will make it start back up quickly again.

I hear the new station launcher patches much better though.

The new Station Launcher that recently came out of beta is much better, but I would caution you that if you're using Vista, actually getting the launcher installed correctly on your system can be problematic due to permissions related issues. There's actually two parts to the installation of the Launcher, a typical self-installing executable and a seperate "Web Installer" that's used to update the Launcher through your browser.

http://launcher.station.sony.com/update/index.html

That's the page where you can get links to download both the Station Launcher and the Web Installer. The most important thing to keep in mind if you're using Vista is that you want to download both installers to your system, and do not run them from within your browser (i.e.: selecting the Run option), instead save them to disk. Close your browser, then right-click on the Web Installer and select "Run as Administrator". When it's done, right-click on the Station Launcher installer and select "Run as Administrator" and when it's finished, make sure you leave the option checked to run the Launcher. If all goes well, it'll open up your browser and you'll go back to the page I linked above, and the Web Installer will start downloading updates to the Launcher to complete the installation.

Hopefully that helps anyone who's trying to get the Station Launcher to install and update under Vista. I'd also recommend visiting the Station Launcher forums if you run into trouble or have questions about it.

Besides everything else that has been mentioned. Make sure you go through these steps if you're running on Vista:

1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"

Also, have made any hardware/software changes since your last install? Specifically, I'm wondering if you got a new router or operating system.
