View Full Version : Target attacks on warding

I am not sure if this issue has been discussed earlier but couldn't find anything about it.

Since several months I encountered a really strange issue. And this is what happens:

Let's assume I play solo. I have a mob in target and cast a ward (single target or group, doesn't matter). As soon as the casting finishes my target attacks me. I am far away from the mob, so I can be sure I am not in its aggro range.

Well thats not really a big problem.

It becomes tricky though when I play in groups or even raids.

I target the tank while he got a mob in target. I cast a ward on the tank (again it doesn't matter if single or group ward) and the tank's target attackes when the ward casting is finished.

This happened now several times on raids. You can imagine annoying how this is. I opened a petition on this issue but wanted to see if someone else encountered the same problem. And maybe someone even knows what the source of this problem is and what to do against it. A workaround is of course that the tank doesn't target any mob as long as I am casting wards, or well I don't preward at all. But in some situations prewarding is simply a must.

Found out what the issue is. Stupid me, it was so obviously. Of course I was wearing an item that triggered an attack on a healing spell. These items should only trigger if already engaged in combat I think :/

I've actually been looking for that.

The most fun part about them was the damage was credited to whoever you healed... meaning if you heal Joe Schmoe and he procs a nuke on a mob, the mob comes for him not you.

Also, the T3 armor out of Ward of Elements has a 3 piece bonus that adds a damage shield to all your wards that works like that. It increases hate on whoever gets hit while the ward is on them. I've noticed that when I wear that gear and ward my dog, he can actually hold agro and tank! As long as the tank gets agro on the pull that gear works pretty well.

That proc was a direct result of the folks who complained about how Shaman got whacked disproportionately on body pulls. Basically, when a tank would body pull something while pre-Warded, the Shaman became public enemy number one. With Bane Warding, that particular problem is greatly alleviated.

There's actually 3, one leather, one chain, one plate, only wearable by the appropriate type (ie leather by druids only). They all have the "Unstable Emollient" effect which is what does the nuke from person that was healed.

Druid version is Leather Bracers of the Guk Priest.

Shaman version is Finely Crafted Dark Mail Forearms

Cleric version is Black Enameled Plate Bracers: http://www.lootdb.com/eq2/item/-1790862740
