Hey, just had a quick question, just reinstalled and decided to start playing again, haven't gotten too far in depth to the game but i've been tweaking around with the graphics to try and get a good balance between looks and fps. I think i've gotten to the point where i'm happy but I noticed something odd.

I was in the commonlands fighting some Thexian Dragoons (I believe they wear heavy plate that's a dark colour) and when they were farther away, they looked completely fine, however once they got within a certain range, all their armour went completely white, as it the texture for it vanished. These (so far) have been the only mobs that's done this so I decided anyway to tweak the graphics options abit to see if I could fix it up abit. The only thing that was able to fix it was to raise "Complex Shader Distance", I had it turned off as to help make the game run much smoother and to get the problem to go away I have to raise it a significant bit.

So basically what i'm wondering is, is if this is something I can still fix while having Complex Shader Distance set to -1, (it really helps my fps, raises it from around 25 to 45 . It hasn't given this odd "white texture" armour on any other mob i've encountered and it's nothing earth shattering in any way, I was just curious if anyone else had encountered this and if so, if they knew a way to fix it aside from raise my Complex Shader Distance.

Also, i've already upgraded my graphics driver to the most recent, and i've already completed a full scan (twice) by deleting my Cache file and going through the station launcher.

Any help is appreciated, and thank you.

Greetings,

Can you provide a screenshot of the issue? There are some mobs that have white textured armor that might look strange without any complex shaders, but I can't think of any that wander the commonlands. Either way, you might want to run a full file scan from the launchpad as a first step.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Here are the screenshots

This first one is how the model looks when it's at a distance, it might be abit tough to see but it looks completely normal in regards to how i've got everything else setup.

http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/4413/eq2000001v.th.jpg (http://img14.imageshack.us/my.php?image=eq2000001v.jpg)

The second picture is how the mob appears once it gets close to me and if i've got my Complex Shader Distance set to -1.

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/2572/eq2000002c.th.jpg (http://img13.imageshack.us/my.php?image=eq2000002c.jpg)

and this third one is the only way i've been able to solve the issue so far, by turning up my Complex Shader Distance, however i'm trying to avoid this option.

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/333/eq2000003m.th.jpg (http://img13.imageshack.us/my.php?image=eq2000003m.jpg)

Thanks again.

Greetings,

Outside of deleting your paks folder, I'm not sure what else to suggest. It looks like one specific version of a texture file didn't download correctly. If you do not want to enable complex shaders then that might be the only option left. Sadly, I do not know which specific file in that directory contains the texture information.

Hi

Just to let you know you are not alone with this exact problem.

I have the same problem here & only on the Thexian Dragoon, both in Commonlands and in Fallen Gate.

Turning complex shader distance to exactly 29 resolves the problem, any value below that or at -1 will give a total white texture on the Thexian Dragoon (only head has color, the rest of the body is totally white). Have not seen it on any other mob, so makes me think its something exclusive to this partcular mob/texture.

Deleting the entire PAK folder was good idea but unfortunately up to no good & the same problem also exists on my brothers computer, so the probability of 2 computers with the same PAK file corrupted is also quite low.

Only similarity on my own and my brothers systems is the GFX-card, we both have an Nvidia 7600 GS with most recent drivers (problem also existed on older drivers btw).

I have turned my complex shader distance to 29 now, so its no big bother, but it does hinder my game performance and my overall FPS.
