Rendering Distance resets and gripes

<p>My main issue is almost every time I log in or switch characters my rendering distance gets set to about half the bar.  I want it to stay at 0 (120) as I play 3 characters on one laptop and its very annoying to have to adjust the settings all the time.  Sometimes it does seem to save the settings, but I can't figure out what causes that.  Any help?</p><p>Just some notes:</p><p>The recommended drivers for the 7xxx series nvidia cards do not support the "go" version laptop series, so I'm using a really old driver.</p><p>It seems the crash while changing characters was fixed, great.  But I still have times when I get stuck loading the world while zoning and have to end task eqii, is that just the way it goes?</p>

<p>Greetings,</p><p>It sounds like your EQ2_recent.ini isn't saving the setting correctly.  That file should be in your Everquest 2 directory.  First, let's make sure it isn't being set to read only. </p><p>1. Right click the 'eq2_recent.ini' file and select 'properties'2. Go to the 'General' tab3. Uncheck the box that says 'read-only' at the bottom of that window</p><p>I believe the actual setting you're trying to change is called 'ics_maxcameradistance' in that file if you want to try setting it manually instead.</p>

<p>Thanks for pointing me to eq2_recent.ini.  The setting I'm dealing with is o_max_farplane.  I tested it out.  When I use the slider for the "Rendering Distance" setting under Display->Performance to set things to minimum (120) it actually writes out 119.999985 to the ini file when you camp.  I'm guessing that when EQ2 loads, it says thats below the minimum (120) and sets it to the default, which is half way into the bar.  Camping at 129 and logging back in saved it as 129 so I can just leave it at that, or I edited the ini to be 120.0 and that loaded properly too.  This has been bugging me forever.   Thanks.  Hope it gets fixed even though its minor.</p>
