I have spent 4 days now troubleshooting the patcher. I finally managed to get it to work through a long drawn out series of isolating corrupted files and running full scans repetatively. Long story short, the game finally patched all the way.

When I hit play on the station launcher, the game opens, I get to the everquest logo screen and the game freezes and becomes unresponsive. I cant even make it to the character select screen.

When I chose to log in as my main on station launcher, I run the game, it says entering game as grieg and freezes.

I have an updated copy backed up on an external, I pulled these files over after uninstalling the game. Same problem occurs. I also tried uninstalling station launcher and reinstalling, as well as deleting all my UI files and INI files. Nothing seems to be working.

Greetings,

Could you possibly provide the first section of your DXdiag so that we can get some basic information about your computer? I will need to gather some more informaiton before I'll be able to answer your question.

Also, I have closed your other threads related to this issue. Please keep your responses in one thread so it will be easier to track what we have already tried.

The latency is so high because I was patching game during the tracert.

I noticed a pattern in problem files ive been downloading thru station launcher.

All of the files i have errors downloading belong in the PAKS folder, and have the file extension SG on the end.

IE: boat_06_tutorial02_SG

Aside from those file types, the only other problem file that I cannot seem to get to patch no matter how often I delete and repatch is the Legends of norrath/data/archetypes/index.dat file

I have even gone so far as to buy a hard copy of the game, brand new, just to do a completely fresh reinstall. I did this, and am still having the same issues with the patcher getting stuck on the _SG.vpk files as well as the index.dat file.

I am still patching after 24hours since the fresh reinstall, but clicking the everquest.exe file will launch the game but I am still crashing, most likely because I havent finished patching.

However, when I did patch fully prior to the reinstall, I would freeze up before getting to character select.

Where do you have the game installed? If you have it installed in either of the program files directories then please try moving it to a folder such as C:Games. It sounds like the launchpad is able to download the files but the files it is trying to update are right protected. Once you move the folder, follow these steps to make sure the read only flag is removed:

1. Right click the 'Sony' folder and select 'properties'2. Go to the 'General' tab3. Uncheck the box that says 'read-only' at the bottom of that window4. Select 'apply to all files/folders' when prompted

I have it installed to C:/Sony/EQ2 its not in a program files comp.

Once I completely finish patching, I freeze before I get to the character select screen. It asks me what UI settings I want, I click default, then I get stuck on the loading screen.

I have deleted all my UI files and repatched, deleted all files related to my account, such as UI settings, character info, everquest.exe, eq2 default settings and all the patch logs and cache.

Im about to give up, it always seems like I have some sort of problem getting the game to work, no matter my location or ISP.

All my ports are open, my only guess is station launcher is downloading corrupted files. I have done a fresh reinstall, I even went out and bought a new copy of the game just to do this. The default patcher freezes on the initializing phase, and on top of that, it redownloads itself each time I try and run it. So Im stuck using station launcher.

I get the option to play now, but Im having this freezing issue before character select. This makes no sense to me because last week, I was able to log in using the everquest2.exe file and play just fine even though Station Launcher was telling me I had a 186mb patch I needed to download. My best guess is station launcher is patching corrupted files that cause my client to freeze. I have no idea how to isolate which files are causing this. When I was patching I would get several PAK, UI, and Legendsofnorrath file errors, causing me to have to delete and repatch over and over until it finally got through.

I will FRAPS the whole process if needed. I dont see how out of all the people Ive tried to troubleshoot this with, no one can figure out whats wrong. I have 2 open tickets and have posted on the forums several times over the past week, with no hope for solving this issue.

Greetings,

As far as I am aware, there are no corrupt patch files that are being pushed out. If the file is arriving corrupted, then something must be happening along the route that is corrupting them. An antivirus would be the most likely cause and if you have one then you might want to try disabling it.

Besides that, have you tried removing the station launcher and installing using the standard launchpad? You seem to indicate that the problem started when you started using station launcher.

I have uninstalled my antivirus, disabled the firewall and I MUST use station launcher because of the error I mention above when using Launchpad. I get a popup that says could not load images, and my previous post was an excerpt from the launchpad patch log. I have also totally reinstalled EQ2 solely to patch using launchpad, and thats when I got the above error yet again. Station Launcher seems to be the only program that doesnt fully crash when trying to patch. I also had to purchase a new router, even still no luck.

Im about a week away from cancelling my accounts because nothing I try and nothing anyone suggests seems to make the slightest difference. Looks like its back to WOW for me.

If you can think of anything else im willing to give it a shot

Greetings,

I'm not sure what program is setting those files to such a high level of security, but we should be able to bypass it at least temporarily. Let's try removing the read-only flag that is probably on those files:

1. Navigate to the Sony folder (Default: C:Program FilesSony)2. Right click the 'Sony' folder and select 'properties'3. Go to the 'General' tab4. Uncheck the box that says 'read-only' at the bottom of that window5. Select 'apply to all files/folders' when prompted
