I'm trying to decide which armor set to get my Berserker, and wanted to know what the opinion was out there on these two sets of armor. The heroic offers lots of mitigation bonuses, but the generic, ground granite, offers a lot of + combat art. Is one preferred over the other? Is it just a playing style difference? Perhaps one set is better for solo, one better for group? Just looking for some feedback.

Thanks

i went with the generic because of the offensive bonus. however i regretted alot. Simply not enough offensive + to it to counter the defensive + of the warrior set.

If you're looking to tank, the Heroic Steel and Champion's Mirror set is the way to go. Other DPS stats can be made up via jewelry pretty easily.

Only thing I would swap out, if you don't mind missing out on the +Mitigation from the 6 set, would be the generic shoulders, since they have +Base Damage to combat arts. That would give you a little extra DPS.

The Ground Granite is more for crusaders and priests, and less for warriors.

+CA mod is junk for us, being the weakest combat art class. it caps early and doesn't do much, the attack speed bonuses are also a joke.

go with the heroic steel. its designed for us. but def pick up some t2 jewelry, even before you start getting the t2 armor. the t2 armor isnt feeling like that big of an upgrade, and i feel i got bigger gains for less with the jewelry. Also, look for anything that will increase your auto attack, DA helps a lot, or you'll have a hard time with aggro.

I'd go with the Mirror Champion set as soon as you can get it. There's plenty of excellent offensive options for jewelry, but not many good defensive ones. Conversely, the defensive armor set gives you things that you just can't get with jewelry, such as the mitigation increases and massive +skill bonuses with some offensive blue stats.

Some +CA is good, since we are rarely out of attacks between auto-attack swings, but you don't need much at all. A good 200-300 is enough for pretty much all our combat arts, and that comes with the jewelry. The +attack speed and +DPS increases are small, and while they do add up, they don't really compare to the +crit and +double attack the defensive set offers. Even moreso if you group with any sort of support regularly (bard or enchanter).

The only piece of heroic steel you may want to wear with regularity is the shoulders. +base CA is hard to find, and even with our low-damage CAs, it boosts the cap on +combat art damage as well. 5 mirror champion + the heroic steel shoulders is a solid combo, and lets you keep the 5-piece bonus from the champion set.

As for jewelry, you can, but you'll find better going through instances for all the jewelry you can get from the voidshard merchants. Except for maybe a few pieces of onslaught (for offense) and stone tower (if you really really need the defense). Even then, there are fabled pieces from the instances that'll beat those out.
