My and my girlfriend's PC's are currently having issues with EQ2.exe basically it's using 100% of her CPU resources and 70-85% of mine, this happens from launch and the performance slowly degrades from then on in. We have tried disabling all other programs from running at launch, as well as altering UI's to default in an effort to see what was causing EQ2 to use up so much of the CPU but this hasn't helped at all, currently my EQ2.exe shows as having used 210k of memory compared to it's usual 20-30k.

We share a net connection and my PC ran EQ2 without issues until today, we can both just about manage to play but are worried if we enter raid zones where there's a lot going on that we will repeatedly crash as we don't want to let 22 other guildies down. Is there anything else we can do to try to remedy this?

Aye, that would certainly help - instructions for doing so are found here if you need them.

I'd recommend, to start, running a clean boot and updating your graphics card drivers.

Your appropriate driver update can be found here. The clean boot instructions are as follows:

1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.

Let us know if that makes any noticable difference in CPU usage!
