Hi all,

Besides the obvious that some areas of the site need some fixes (which is covered in separate threads), what features do you typically use on EQ2Players.com? Also, what features would you want to have?

Thanks for the feedback,

- Jacob

I use the following all the time:

Character Profile

Alts Profile

AA Profile

Item Lookup

Character Lookup

Guild Lookup

Rankings

I don't have a full EQ2Players account, but I look up other's gear and the leaders boards quite a bit.

I use a lot:

character profile for rankings of my own chars (wishing I could pwave)

checking alts of other players

checking progress of friend's toons

What I'd like:

finished quests

not-finished quests

sending mail in-game (only allowing guildies!)

quicker updates of character profiles (range of 15 mins, not days)

Before I cancelled all the features, I used the following ones a bit:

Player profiles (general idea of what kind of gear they are wearing)

Player alts (this was a biggie)

Some leaderboards.

The leaderboards are a huge area for improvement. Mainly because some of them that are "WW all classes" or "Serverwide all classes" are not representative because of variations by class. For example, if you look at WW most masters... the list of who appears on there depends mostly on class, because some classes have far more spells than others. Those leaderboards would be more useful if it was a percentage-based approach. (IE 95% of all masterable spells instead of 135 masters, as a made-up example). Same with "Most recipes known" -- and here it's even more useless since you do not see a breakdown by class and yet that HUGELY influences the # of recipes.

Back when it actually worked, I used the chat with guild function. I'd love to have that fixed, it was actually useful (since then you could talk in /gu even when you could not get in game).

So, things I'd like to see added, expanded, or fixed:

Definately more frequent updates

A chat with guild that works. The old one had a clunky interface to boot, a complete redo with a sleeker system would be nice.

Better appearance on many of the pages. The item icons are always messed-up looking on the character profile, for one thing.

Better item database search. Make it an honest-to-goodness useful item database, including where it comes from and, if it is dropped, the drop rate data that Zam seems to get. But if the item DB part is to be useful, you should be able to do advanced searches on it... IE find me L80 items that are quest rewards with at least +50 to heal. This feature would probably be a pain in the rump to develop well, but I think it would also be the showstopper.

Better leaderboards that are either normalized by class or at least make sense.

More leaderboards in general

Make all this stuff included in Station Access (or give a discount)

I stopped pretty much using EQ2Players over the past year due to lack of regular updates and such, but these are the features I was using before (and would use again if things improved):

Character profiles (see what guild they're in, what are their alts, last played date)

Leaderboards (per class/per server)

And of course, whatever data gets pushed through the XML/CSV feeds. And in this case, the more the better

Amongst the things that would be nice (but not sure if doable): being able to view a character's past guild history would be a boon to guild leaders / recruiting officers. It would be nice being able to view a list of the past guilds a character has been a member of (at least those he stayed long enough for it to be shown on their character profile).

In the past, I primarily used it for the character profiles and leaderboards, but I canceled paying for it when it basically became completely broken and abandoned by SOE.

Eq2.players has huge potential and I'm glad you guys are finally looking into it instead of letting your cust base spend money on outside sites to manage their guilds. Master spell turn in for DKP. Include in the database a searchable function of the current raid tables.

Why don't SOE have their own lootdb.com?! this amazed me, it's your game! you should have a function in game that brings up all loot from a targeted mob (that has been dicoed to date) by clicking the "show me the money" button.

Screen shots prompt that, when you take a screenshot asks if you would like to save this directly to the guild web site for news updates.

Lock out timers for all members that guild leaders can click to check who's locked out of what and when they can re-enter (tie this into the calendar).

Tie the mail system of the guild web site into the in-game mail with mass mails to the guild, and ranks from the website. For the guild admin issues, that's actually something that is a bit more complex. You had to be the creator of the guild web site, and in which case the creator should have granted anyone access that needed it via the admin panel. If you PM me your character name, server name and guild name, I can get that sorted. If anyone else has a similar issue, the best way to do this is to open a CS ticket and they can sort it out as well now -- we created a new tool that would allow for us to handle these wheneveer they came up.

before i cancelled all the extra stuff i use to look at character achievements(world disco's, server disco's, deaths, how fast to specific levels etc) and the item database to see what item has been disco'd on what server and by whom.

Player and guild profiles are the 2 biggest for me.

Areas that could use improvement I would say is the sortability of a guild roster and the item search in general.

Features I would like to see added...

1) quest journal with both completed and in-progress tabs

2) faster refresh of character data - or a way to push character data in game to update to players (would be important with the quest journal feature)

3) a census search that can be done both by server and worldwide that will just give class counts and can be filtered/sorted by level range as well.

As others have said:

Faster Refreshes

Better searching (player and leaderboard)

Better AA examination. The current AA tool on the site is horrid.

How possible is it to link the players quest journal into this? Permissions would need to be gotten right.

More statistics in aa (like the breakup of exploration, quest, named kills etc).

It would be awesome if we could have the player profiles to display character modifiers as well, like crit, reuse, recast, base, +damage etc.

Essentially id be looking at any stat that can be seen ingame should be available on eq2players. Well, this is the dream anyway

Leaderboard stuff mostly. As someone that is achievement and trophy focused I would, as others have said, like to see a much more consistent update to the site.

I do hope the web team is working with the game devs on porting the new achievement system for viewing as well

This feedback is excellent and I really want to thank you all for taking the time to send us your feedback. It is good to hear what is important to you and how we can improve the site. Many of the issues and suggestions brought up are known to us already and we are working hard to bring them to you. Some may be technically more challenging then others, so please hang in there. I understand the current frustrations with eq2players and I can assure you we are committed to making things better. We will be keeping you in the loop and value your feedback when changes are being rolled out so we can make adjustments.

Some of the features I use very regularly are all related for one purpose... BOOKS!

- Item Discovery, to find out who discovered an oddball book I wanted

- The main Character Profile page, to find out if they've logged on recently (if I'm lucky and they haven't locked their account)

- The Alts listing, to see if they have an alt that logs on more regularly (if the discoverer doesn't) that I can stalk... I mean... make friends with with ulterier motives

Though I use this less and less because I know where all the books I have left come from pretty much, they are still very handy-dandy features that I like. Something I've always wondered... Is it just a package I need to purchase extra, or could we ever see server-by-server discoveries? There are some items that I wonder if they just got some "help" in receiving the item, and if they were the only person to ever disco it, then I could assume as much. Or does the item package thingie that it tells me to get when I view item disco have more handy specific information, like... maybe... where they were when they discovered it? I don't know how you all keep track of this info, but I assume that'd require more game/website interaction than is already there, and I don't really have any desire to increase you guys' workload to that extreme. I'm just throwing out things that'd be handy for me... uh... *cough* I mean for people -like- me.

The features I miss are the ability to check what alts a particular person has. I used to use this all the time to compile a spreadsheet of guildees characters. I stopped receiving it when I refused to pay extra anymore. Not much I know but when you're already paying for Station Access at a terrible exchange rate of pound against dollar then every little counts.

Personally I really feel that some of these little extras should be included in the extended SA pack.

I use it for three things

1 - Uploading Screenshots for posting on these forums.

2 - Looking up a guild to see who is in it.

3 - Looking up someone's character to see what gear they have and who their alts are. The problem is many people restrict access.

I use the eqplayers to protect my guild from guild looters and bad players by being able to look at people's alts. I want to be able to prevent bad apples from being in my guild. It is why I bought the feature and pay the extra money.

This has become more important with loot options being heirloom and people rolling for alts.

I know some Raid guilds use this to make sure a person does not have conflicts of interest.

If you take away this feature I would stop paying for the service. In fact I don't think people should be allowed to block who their alts are.

I also have used the feature for looking at discoveries, leaderboards, I like to know when people are telling the truth about being fully mastered by looking at the leaderboards.

I have also looked at AA set ups(This was poor by the way especially with spent point totals) and equipment set ups.

I used the private comparison leader boards to see how I compared to other people of the same class I was.

As a guild recruter I use the look up alt tab all the time. I also use the look at guild all the time. The reason why is simple. We had the same person more than once who nailed our guild bank vaults try to get back in using a new alt. Aslo you dont want to let folks back in that you might have had problems with for various reasons.

The problem with the new website is we went from having a functional tool for guild lookup, to 4 toons per page, and the download versions really are not user friendly, especially if your in a group and trying to figure out if your going to toss an invite or not.

My sugestion is that when you click on the guild tab at least give us 25 or so we can look at. Also it would be nice to have the sorting features back that we use to have.

I used to use the class/server leaderboards, but they've been removed it seems.

As a player, I am greatly concerned with giving everyone access to see everyone else's alts, that's why we had the ability to turn them on and off when it was a paid (but broken) product.

Guild Officer, Leader, Recruiter or whatever have absolutely ZERO right to see my alts if I choose not to list them. MORESO, if I am not even a member of their guild. Who's to say they don't use this feature to create "hit-list" of some sort for recruiting from other guilds? There are many nefarious ways to use this information, and not everyone is an honest and upstanding person.

Bottom line, my choice to deny other people the right to see what all the toons I play .. is my choice. No one else has a right to see. I am sorry, but there are in game mechanics a person can use if they are skeptical of new recruits, members or whatever.

If people have a problem with that, there are many different methods of addressing this, starting with an all or nothing show-alt feature for guild and/or public settings (instead of individual toons).

You can also add in a feature that will "ban" a players account from joining a guild, if a toon (based on ID and not name) is banned from a guild. However, I suspect this may be more difficult to implement and/or maintain in game.

These are just some of the concerns I have and other people also agree on.

And, as an aside, change the entire site back to the way it used to be. Information was MUCH more easy to get to, like the world/server/class ranking and such.

As it is now, I have to look up a name, then modify listing choices buried within that information screen, jsut to come up with the listings of old.

90% of the time I only used the guild chat. It was great to be able to arrange things during the day, with guildies logged into guild chat from work, instead of having to wait for them to get home and log into the game and only then start discussing our plans. Several like to play other SOE games and it was good to all still be in the same chat, just by having a browser running on the side.

Other than that I did occasionally use it for other things, like revising lists of guild crafters, etc., but the new layout is too fiddly to use, having to go through a labyrinth of menus to find anything and then having the guild list split over too many pages.

The one feature I am using the most, or better was using, is the "network & server status" page. I play at sometimes odd hours which coincide with regular server downs and it always has been somewhat helpful to see the servers as down or locked. This always gave you a feel when locked that it would be about 30 minutes for the servers to be online thus giving you the opportunity to take care of other things instead of constantly trying to log in to "no zone available" messages.

Lately it seems this page is just not reflecting actual serverstatus but always shows every server as up. This shouldn't be too difficult to link somehow to the servers instead of having someone have to update that page manually.

Hi. I have a problem. When EQ game first came on web. My oldest grandson kept on telling me to buy the game. He convince me that playing with other was great. So I did buy the game. Watching him play the game, I got interested in it. So I brouht another copy of the game. I am really stuck on the game. At this time, in playing the game, my character was attack by gnolls, Luckily a strong player came and recue me by killing the gnolls. I noticed I had picked up a strong armor spell, it seems that he might like it So I traded it to you. It was no bother then. Now you need a EQ2 account??? to trade. I call that stupid. I have two grandsons who want to form a nice group with thier friends. I purchase two copies of EQ2 games from a game's retailer. I set one up on my number 2 computer. I got my first character to Qeynos. I tried trading with a character on my number 1 computer. It was no go. Is there any way to trade without bothering with any expensive accounts. I know if I belong to a guild with both of my eq2 games in the guild. It sounds reasonable, though I have'nt try it. Very difficult to apply to join guilds????. Is there any other ways to trade? walker471 thanks for viewing.

I'd like the functionality of the old leaderboard back. You used to be able to select the exact level range you wanted. Now you are limited to either a single tier, or everyone.

I also don't seem to be able to see my discoveries listed any more.

Mostly I use EQ2players to look up guilds, players, alt, AA setups... the usual kind of thing.

If I were to request one thing, it would be that you updated the AA tables. Seriously, I don't know the last time that was updated - the ability names don't even correspond with TSO. And now that new SF abilities have been added, we can't even see them, nevermind having things show up as 10/8 points spent.

I really hope this is in the works, it's nothing but sheer laziness if not! It hasn't been updated since before TSO?? Why on earth not?

On another note, I do like the new website and most of the changes (and I'm seriously glad you added an alternative to the tiny guild chat box), but I just can't understand why it's taking so long for everything to be updated. I can understand new SF gear not showing up, adding all of those would take a lot more time than updating the AA tables, for sure...

I liked the personal leaderboards most of all - knowing how I compared to other people on things like when I levelled up or who got the server-first discos, while admittedly arbitrary, are what made me visit EQ2players. I'm disappointed by their apparent disappearance.

Hello there,

I used a lot 2 features on EQ2players previous to the change :

The leaderboard of the server discoveries (not the number of worldwide discos but the number of server discos)

The list of my own discoveries

Both features are now missing from EQ2 Players. Could those be added back please ?

As a guild recruiter, the ability to search people's alts is crucial and tells me a lot about the person I'm talking to. There are the obvious no-go list people, but it's generally more like is this a new player to the game who isn't entirely familiar with how EQ2 guilds work or is this a veteran. The search function itself can be a little wonky - sometimes I'll put in the name, and it's far down on the list even though it's an exact match. Not a big deal though.

The second biggest use of players for me is the AA specs, which is obviously outdated. It might be cool to implement a mirror AA spec on the site as well.

I do believe this tread to be a stall tactic. humm its been here for how long and the site is still totally useless.

1 - the leader boards have always been lacking -- now totally useless

2 - Item look up - better information off zam and eq2 wikii

3 - character look up is useless all one has to do is make there toon anonymous-- the even paying for the extras you loose

4 - update update update

5 could always go on but enough is enough

Other people have mentioned the ones I use, but will add my voice in the chance those get fixed first.

My characters', friends', and guildies' quest completed rankings, server discoveries, and (especially) achievements.

character search for prospective guild members, including alts. Would like to see past guild history for characters, including dates.

Would like to see rankings within the guild like the original site had.

Would like to see rankings and character pages for Test server.

Time and place of level up.

I rarely care about worldwide rankings, so would prefer server rank to be default instead of world. (Also, like others have mentioned with some classes having many more recipes and spells than others, have these displayed as percentages rather than (or in addition to) absolute numbers.

What I use is the Character profiles. Check out friends profiles and levels. (Although given that my character now links to a 12th level conjurer rather than a 90th level monk, even this functionality is no longer usefull).

Guild roster. This I use but again it would be nice it it now was updated to reflect thinks like the artisan level correctly. I have posted the simple fix to this page but it has never been implemented. Not that is matters as our guild seesm to still be on Runnyeye.

What I would like to use is the guild bank. Unfortunately any new stuff (Kunark and beyond I think) does not show up in the bank. This makes it somewhat useless.

I was wondering when/if the everquest2.com look up feature for toons will ever work again? I can't look up my friends profiles anymore much less see my own alts on my character page because I keep getting that [Removed for Content] Error Message. At one time, if all else failed, I could look up my friends profiles by typing in the guild name under 'Guilds' in the search feature on the everquest2.com website and click on their name and I could see their profile, that no longer works because of that [Removed for Content] Error Message. I know that my guild, for recruting purposes, used the look up feature for toons alot, can't do that now because keep getting that [Removed for Content] Error Message. I really wish someone would fix this it is really frustrating. *mumbles* I hate that [Removed for Content] Error Message!

Yes, it's simply RIDONCULOUS that this site has been non functional for so long. Being able to look up alts is crucial as a guild leader, as someone has mentioned.

HELLO SOE!!! When will this be fixed? People do indeed need this feature! Get the gnomes on it post haste and fire those [Removed for Content] goblins!

I agree with previous post, even if it's old. I always checked toons who contact us for a raiding spot, to see if I know them or remember anything about them from chat. I am specifically interested in their guild, if any, since we are an alliance. We have had some bad experiences with people from certain guilds, and we try to avoid these.
