Greetings EQ2 players,

I've been an EQ2 player for a few years off-and-on. The last time I quit the game, I had a 72 Wizard on the PVE server Everfrost. In the middle of June, I started playing another toon and I'm almost ready to quit again. I'll explain why and perhaps some of you could offer me advice to keep me playing.

The last time I quit, I quit for the following reasons:

-Difficulty finding a group

-Unable to solo the "solo quests" my level

-Difficulty leveling my player

I had a lot of fun playing up to T8 but I'm having these same problems now. When I started playing again, I anticipated those problems and tried to work around them. Instead of making a Wizard, this time, I made a Necromancer because Necromancers are supposed to be better at soloing and they are awesome DPS/Utility in groups. Instead of playing on a PVE server, I decided to play on a PVP server. I heard "once you go PVP you never go back." The PVP server is more populated as well so I figured there would be no problems finding groups.

I'm the kind of player that wants to see all of the content, do all of the instances, participate in raids, and tweak my character to its maximum potential. I've reached the level cap in the past but the Rise of Kunark expansion is ruining my gaming experience.

I am level 70. I have 100 AA points. My gear is the level 62 mastercrafted + a few legendary drops from TSO instances. All of my spells are Expert or better. I have sought groups in the chat channels. I usually say in lvl 1-9, lvl 60-69, and lvl 70-79 chat "70 necro lfg." This has always worked well in tiers up to T8 for me. I watch the channels looking for groups LFM as well. I don't fully understand why no one wants to group with a level 70. It seems that all of the players who are familiar with T8 content, which I dearly want to explore, want to group with someone 76+. You might say "ask some guildies to group with you and help with your quests" but none of them play in T8 either. They favor low tier PVP.

Lately I've been playing a lot. 4+ hrs weeknights, all day weekends. Right now, it is so difficult for me to gain experience that my vitality is over-running my ability to gain new experience.

I think my problems would be solved if I could get to 76 and find groups, but, the way it's going now I wont ever get there.

Today (Sunday) I gained a miserable 15% xp with 10 hours of gameplay. I am trying to complete quests in Kylong Plains. I am working on a few different quest lines. Tonight I tried to complete Lynchpin's Abduction. I am required to kill four non-heroic mobs which I pull individually (and sometimes fail). The mobs are lvl 69 and 70. After breaking my armor, cussing a lot and dying at the hands of mobs and Qeynosians in Kylong Plains, I am frustrated enough to quit the game again. I'd like to think that I'm not an underskilled nooblet but WHY am I having so much trouble?

Please give some advice!

I made some alts to hold me over for a while. I'm using them for acquiring transmutable items.

I understand your feelings on this Leveling from 70-80 in RoK was not a lot of fun for me either when it came out. Soloing quests soon become tedious, and with only 1 shared dungeon for L70-75(KC) there was to many people in that zone!

My best suggestion to you is go down the GUILD root, join a well populated guild that suits your gamestyle, a lot of grouping these days are Guild groups.

Well if you enjoy PvP servers that is all well and good. I will point out that when RoK came out many of the players in PvE guild I was in where shocked at the jump in difficulty of the mobs pre-RoK to the new RoK zone mobs. If you are stuck in that position as well you may want to go back to easier zones and finish quests there for another level or two.

A Guild with players actually playing at your level is suggested as well.

I cannot comment on the grouping desireability of Necromancer's on a PvP server, your mileage may vary. Player perception on a PvE server tends towards them being generally useless, except for a few great ones, unless you want to solo...

One tip I always used when I played PvP was if I was killed while soloing in a zone, I did not go back to the same area except with friends =D Conversely if I did find myself an easy kill I made sure to check that spot regularly in my hunting. Out of the way area's, search for them. Instances preferably.

First let me say I am NOT familiar with the mechanics of the PVP servers, however my PVE necro recently started RoK just around level 70. After running through RoK with a fury I was expecting a sharp learning curve but it's been 100 times easier with the necro. Expert tank pet with tainted heals AA burns through just about anything. Just thought I'd mention this because I recently met a necro who somehow didn't discover tainted heals line til 80. Maybe check that out if you're not already specced for it.

I don't do PVP and my necro is a measely lvl 17 but I have leveled a mystic (melee spec) through70-80 (was pretty easy) and am currently leveling a defiler through it (made it to lvl75 so far). The defiler has been a lot more of a chore I must say with the low dps output, even so she doesn't really have any issues getting stuff dead before it gets her killed and even the semi-weeny defiler pet can tank some of the mobs for a short time without dying, surely a necro pet can do better than that.

I would think from a PVE perspective that a necro wouldn't be all that difficult to run through the quest lines. Maybe take a good look at how you are approaching everything and switch it up a little. Maybe you aren't going about things quite the right way to succeed against the more difficult Kunark mobs. They do hit like freight trains, though they don't really seem to have many HP.

yes, the difficulty of RoK mobs, even solo ones, jumped up big. I didn't bother with Kylong until 72 for my next tier MC armor. Karnor's Castle is definately doable by a [Removed for Content] good low 70s group...but you'd probably need the kind of synergy guild/raid groups get.

same thing with most of the instances. it's like they want you to get to at least 75 on the questiing side, before trying the instances.

I would also suggest doing the Thugga line as well, if you haven't started it already. that one is I nelive mostly soloable, and gives a very nice reward for it's completion.
