UPDATE! Figured out the problem. After no luck with the software, I took a closer look at the hardware. Several of the video card's capacitors had an aneurysm and blew. Bought a better card and we're back in business!

Hello everyone, I'm sure you're gonna hear this help request from before, so here goes. I had downloaded EQ2, up to but not including TSO, a few weeks ago to play with a friend who turned me on to the game as I was getting a little bored with WoW lately. The game was playing fine, and I hadn't updated any of my drivers yet (explanations coming). A couple days ago I went ahead and bought TSO and installed it. Things were fine for a few minutes, then suddenly I started lagging every 5 steps I took and the sound got incredibly sputtered. I'd try to zone to other areas, log in, or even just walk around, and half the time, the game would freeze up completely and I'd get a blue screen. I called tech support, gave them the DXDiag info and he suggested to update my video and sound drivers and reinstall the game. I went ahead and updated my Nvidia video driver no problem, but everything I tried to do to update my SoundMAX HD Audio driver would not take. I tried searching around for free downloads, couldn't find any. They kept telling me to purchase a driver downloader/scanner, and even the motherboard's homepage, Asus, gave me a link to download, which I did, but NOTHING I tried to update the drivers seemed to work. I kept checking my sound driver's 'date last updated' information, and it would not change the date to today. I even decided to shell out the $30 for the driver automatic updater, and every time I decided to do a scan to see if anything else needed updating, the sound driver would pop up, again, right at the top, as if nothing happened. I'm running out of ideas on what to do, because I've enjoyed playing this game up to this point, but if a sound driver that for whatever reason absolutely refuses to update is what's making this game literally unplayable for me, I see no reason to stay. On the next post is my DXDiag information. I also happened to see on a separate forum about a different game, thanks to a google search using my sound driver name and current version number, that someone else was having the same issue, and several responses to this person's original post all agree that they see no reason that he should be having any issues at all (the game was Total Battlefield if you're curious). Anyway, any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

PS: Before installing TSO, my sent and received packet transfers was fine. Now, my sent packet numbers totally plummets when I've tried to start/play the game. Also, my WoW has frozen up (not that this matters HERE, but may be worth mentioning, could help assess the problem), both in Dalaran and out and about. It's occasionally sputtered for a second or two in the past, but never completely frozen to the point that I can't even Alt-tab out. My friend and I have been discussing this problem in depth trying to figure out the situation. Anyone have any ideas, am I missing anything? Thanks.
