Hey all. I pose this question to everyone. Because I would truly love some constructive feedback and...honestly...I would like to get the dev's feedback on this one.

Back in the old days of Everquest, I remember trudging along, and yes, I do mean trudging, through the Field of Bone and Kurn's Tower with my Iksar Shadowknight and his little skeletal pet. My own little personal DoT. I remember the skeletal pet was a much weaker version of the Necromancer's skeletal pets. Mmmm...if I remember correctly it was about...10-20 levels weaker. Just so we weren't the overpowered class. And trust me, I sure as the dickens didn't feel overpowered with my Iksar Shadowknight. *cringes at the slow leveling*

The question I pose to the players is: Do you think it would be a good thing to have our little DoT with us again? Do you think it would be feasible? Do you think it would make us overpowered (following the model of the old EQ shadowknight)?

To the devs: Is it possible for us to ever see our little DoT pet back with us again? As a permanent pet?

Thanks

-Alisu

There is a lot about EQ1 I would like to see in this game. I would love to see our pet back....as long as it was immune to AE damage and wasn't the temp pet like they had before. Basically a weak little companion that might not do a lot of damage but would be great for pulling and not feeling so lonely.

I also would love to see Fear-kiting a great solo option and pulling to become an art again.

Like I said there is a lot I would love to see come back from EQ1. What would be great is if they used the EQ2 graphics engine for EQ1 than made a progression server. I would totally jump ship and go back and play. Its just so hard to get over the graphics.

I, personally, don't think making it immune to AoE damage would be gamebreaking or even overpowered. But that "weak pet" is what kept the other classes off our case. In this game I don't see a need for fear kiting. EQ1...oh yeah, that was an art.

As I said, it was just a small DoT. What do you other people think?

I'm not sure about the pet, the one we used to have was good for pulling but I would much rather have the hate gain aoe that replaced it.

On the fear kiting, not necessarily for the kiting aspect of it but we should definitely have some fear attributes, as we are we just look 'cool' rather than have any abilities in that respect. For goodness sake, after all, the Nazgul were the epitomy of Shadow Knights and they instilled fear in all but the very stout hearted. But then again, it is a statistics game more than an RPG so I guess we're stuck with pulling entire rooms and aoe'ing them to death.

I actually was thinking something similar to this, albeit not quite the same. Instead of giving us a pet and us treating it like a DoT, instead I was thinking about that stupid little squire fluff spell that we get. I can understand Paladins having a squire, he's a knight in training and the paladin wants to help him along his way, right? Not a Shadowknight, we're more concerned with killing things, causing misery and overall being evil. So my thought in regards to all of this, why not make our lame freeport squire guy, a skeleton? They've already got multiple skeleton models wearing armor in the game, most of them are available for necro's as pets. Why not take one of those models, and replace our human squire with an undead one? IMO it seems much more evil and generally fits a Shadowknight better, plus, then all the Shadowknights who want to have a skelly pet again (myself included), will have something to suffice that doesn't make us OP.

Thoughts? Agree or disagree?

Discuss.

p.s. I'm posting something about this idea in the Look and Feel forum also, if you support the idea, /agree on the post, let's see if we can get a decent looking skelly "pet"

Ya i can just imagine the crap storm giving SK's a fear would create. Although id be more than willing to give up my evac for it.
