So I have 2 computers. One is mine and one is my wifes. My computer has no problems at all, however I have a very strange problem on my wifes computer. For general surfing/dowloading her internet connection works fine.

We have had these computers for over a year but, whenever we try to play EQ2 her computer see's everything happen about 5-10 seconds after it has occured. I see everything within a second on my machine but her's has a constant delay. Checking the lag meter says we have about a 60ms ping and 0% packet loss, and it is definately not graphical lag, the games run smoothly.

Greetings,

You might want to perform a clean boot on your wife's computer. This problem might be caused by another program interferring with the game. To disable background programs:1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.

Greetings,

It sounds like something on that computer is interferring with the connection. If the cleanboot did not solve the problem then you might have some kind of embedded security software. Do you have any antivirus or other security software that is unique to that computer? What motherboard are you using with that computer?

If you're using security software that you are aware of, try disabling it temporarily. Besides that, you may also have some security on the motherboard that can only be deactivated through the BIOS. I know that some Nvidia motherboards had a built in firewall that was causing problems for some players. Check on those possibilities and let us know if the problem persists.
