View Full Version : Serious health problem... please read!

Ok, my monk is having a serious problem. I didn't even really realize it until one day I was leveling up piercing on a training dummy and it was taking my life away. My husband has a bruiser and can hit a training dummy all day and not lose any health. I however will die eventually. Its like I have a reflect on or something. I've looked through all my gear, all my CAs, all my trees.... I can not find anything that says I should be losing health except for one thing... on the monk tree Frozen Palm mentions something about at the cost of health... but if I am auto attacking it does it too. Also, my health is never at 100%... it moves around from 95% to 100% constantly. I really need to figure this out cause now that I am 80 it is really effecting my toon and the game play. Please help!!

Monk's have a self hasting ability that drains a percentage of health while it is active. This isn't as noticable when out of combat but once combat is engaged your in combat health regen suffers. It was called everburning or something like that, but since the revised combat/spell names I am not sure what it is called.

Also monks and bruisers alike have a combat art that drains health instead of power, but since a bruiser does not get an ability that enhances auto attack while draining health their in combat health regen will not suffer as a monks will.

My friends monk suffers that same scenario as you have now. He will cancel everburning when soloing and even when tanking because he says his health goes down fast and takes forever to regen. He uses everburning when in groups and not tanking.

This may not be your actual issue but I thought it would be a nice place to start looking.

You simply have the Everburning Flame buff active. If you read the description on it, it takes a percentage of your max health every tick, and gives you a big haste boost. Simply turn it off or put on gear that procs a heal (several buyable pieces at RoK faction merchants) to make up for it while you're at the training dummy.

When you are out of combat, your food's health regen kicks in and makes up for it, but in-combat health regen is simply not enough to overcome the drain.

Thanks guys. I got to investigating it. Cleared all my buffs, hit the wall, watch health, etc... and you are both exactly right its everburning. I couldnt figure it out cause if you hover over the hot key it just says itcreases attack speed by 41. But now I know, and I won't be running it unless I am in a team as dps. Thanks a bunch!

You are welcome.

LOL Next time you're ripping agro from the tank in groups or raids make sure you read the description of Dragon Stance and do everyone a favor by turning it off.

i went to see if i could see how one would do it with just resetting AA brawler tree. i got up to a 88% avoidance and a 52% mit solo in defensive stance. with other buffs and and corcer and a dirge for hate transfers it would be real easy and you would take nearly 0 damage (with raid buff you would probably only take magic). guess that could be good but dont know how well you could hold agro. = )

88% avoid means nothing to raid mobs. What was your uncontested avoidance at? Also, 52% mit won't do much for you when raid mobs strikethrough your avoid check and hit you anyway. So you take a 'bit' more than magic damage when tanking a raid mob.

well that is the thing i have not looked at my uncontested avoidance. and you are thinking that 52% mit is with buffs.... with out this spec and in complete dps with only 1 healer (mystic in group) not sure what else i had i got up to a 62% mit in offstance. so will check all that stuff the next time i get on.

It isn't that we don't like that sort of thing, it is just that we fear that with which we are unfamiliar. This also applies to logic and reason.
