<p><span > <p>Greetings all!</p><p>I am looking to buy a new pc to replace my 3ghz P4 with 1 gb ram.</p><p>The PC I'm looking at is an HP e9180f:</p><p>CPU: Intel I7 920 2.66 ghz</p><p>Ram: 9gb ddr3 1066</p><p>HD: 1TB sata </p><p>Vid: Nvidia GeForce GTS250 1 GB</p><p>os: Vista 64 ultimate home</p><p>What I want to know is: will this system allow me run extreme graphics setting at 30+ fps in most areas?</p><p>Thanks in advance!</p></span></p>

<p>Greetings,</p><p>Based on your description, I'm betting that you will get between 20-40fps with extreme quality settings. The exact FPS would depend on what you're doing, but it will probably keep between that range most of the time.</p>

<p>Keep in mind this is probably based on your processor speed. If you had a 3.0ghz processor, and you upgrade to a 2.66 quadcore, you're actually downgrading for eq2. Multicore is not supported.</p>

<p>If you have overclocking experience or know someone that does, the i7 920 is an excelent overclocker. I do warn you however, overclock at your own risk, it it not supported by any factory warranty unless it was done at the factory.</p>

While you wont see an even 50-50 distribution on the multiple cores, the game does shift a certain amount of the processing to secondary cores. Also, I believe the newer I7 have a significantly larger cache when compared to the P4, which should provide a nice performance boost.</p>
