Hello, Folks.

I only used to play fingerwigglers, mostly on solo or group content. I really love the high dps and the decent ability to bust heroic mobs all by myself. After many years of Mages, I got bored. I'm looking for a (good aligned) class that goes okay in melee and spellcasting.

A paladin is to low dps for my taste, killing anything takes forever. So my question to you experienced PoPriests:

What Priest-Class goes best for mainly solo play with decent dps (or let's say 'quick' killing) and the ability to beat (green) ^^^ heroics? I like challenges, but I don't like to stare at my screen and wait for a battle to end that seems to last forever. I read Furys are good, but what about the other? Mystics and such?

Thanks in advance

Druid-wise, Furies can do decent spell dps, wardens can do decent melee dps. If you're talking more about leveling overall than just at/near 80, you will probably find more gear with spell stats on it than melee, you don't really see melee priest itemization so much until you get towards 80.

But as a warden at 80, I have no trouble whatsoever killing green heroics. I've killed yellow heroics without too much trouble as well, but as they get tougher it may be easy to do a root/rot type kill vs a melee kill (depending on your gear and playstyle).

Any melee priest can kill green heroics, blues with decent gear, yellows are more situational. Be aware that if you go the melee route as a priest you need a solid chunk of achivement points to be effective.

You really should play whatever healer you want to be end game. They can all solo to some extent, and the solo content in this game has been so repeatedly nerfed that it's extremely easy to do on any class. Solo may be slow for some healers at first, but as you gain gear, knowledge and AA points you will see that ramp up quite quickly.

With ports, they are great for solo quests while lvling and wardens with evac is a another small time saver.

Templers are the best overall healer class for heals, buffs, and do good dps if they spec for it but they will have to change gear or aa's around even to get the better dps.

Defilers i have heard, are the hardest to solo but that has been from "new" defilers who dont know their class well while i have seen a knowledgable raid defiler do really decent damage when she was bored and the named was easy and didnt require a lot of healing (the templer did the most healing that fight, lol).

Inquistors do great as do mystics once they get the aa's like wardens to support the dps specs and there are more "fighter/scout" dps gear that they can get then druids can get for dpsing.

I have played most healer classes and have found that all can solo effectively with moderate gear except the Defiler. put any of the other 5 classes into mastercrafted gear and they will pretty fast. If you do want a defiler at end game but want to solo till then I suggest Mystic then betray at 80. look at your AA trees and build to the classes strengths. Inquisitor, Warden, and Mystic are gonna be strongest soloing melee style. Fury and Templar are very strong when they use spells (Templar can do decent melee damage as well) Defilers anre hard to kill but a bit weak in the DPS department.

In fact, I started out with my warden as the main, but switched to leveling the fury first because the warden just didn't have the same power. That may change once she reaches 80. My templar hasn't had too much trouble, but she is still young and I don't take her out all that often yet..... need to get the warden up there. My fury and my other half's bruiser duo frequently and with the except of a large group of heroics, we can handle most things. We also duo with our others and we do fairly well togther, but we've been together for a long time and we've played the game together for a long time, so we know how each other things and reacts....sometimes not so good. But it makes a big difference. Thre are a great many factors and much of it depends upon how you play, who you play with and where. I've seen people say they can do as much with a warden as a fury. I haven't personally found that to be the case, but my fury is significantly higher than my warden and as I reach level 80, she may be as powerful. To me, the templar is a completely different animal all together and I'm not sure how she will fare soloing, if need be as time goes on.

The last post doesn't really specify if the Warden is melee specced or not when comparing to the Fury - I do have a melee specced Warden, Mystic and Inquisitor and all three are far easier to solo than my Fury - but in turn the Fury is far easier to solo than any of those classes not melee specced.

Since the OP didn't specify what the healer will be used for (solo/group/raid) once max level and considering that they played mages prior I'd recommend a Fury. It's practicly a mage with heals If you want to try the melee route, Mystic/Warden is good.If you plan on raiding (and don't already have a guaranteed spot) I'd stay away from druids for now and go Templar or Mystic. If you descide to join us on the best side (called "evil" by lesser understanding people) Inquisitors rock
