I would not start looking where you can use macro's, but make them where you learn you (or your group) need them...They're there to make your life easier

I personally only use 2; 'Amends are on [target]' and 'Avoidance is on [target]' since I always tell the group this..

Havent felled the need to use macro's for pulling, since its quite obvious what your pulling most of the time and if its relevant I check if everyone is rdy anywayz....

1 macro for all my cas, 1 for my spells, 1 for ae spells, 1 for "Grats on Loot". I parse 4kish in group, and 8k+ on raids. I dont use Act, but used the new casting bar for the uis.

Kind of a necropost, thorn, but a useful one

I don't like the "all of your CAs on one macro" approach. I like to have more control over what gets cast when.

Let's see, macros...

(cast Amends)/g Amends on << %t >>.

(cast Resolute Faith)/g Avoidance on << %t >>.

(cast Demonstration of Faith)/g Pulling << %t >> in 5 seconds, get ready!

(I also keep a non-macro'ed Demonstration of Faith for use during fights)

/g Death Save activated, I am STIFLED for 10 seconds!

10 seconds because by the time I press the hotkey and the group sees it, a couple of seconds have gone by anyway. (Of course this invariably gets a "huh, your death save stifles you?" from some other tank in the group.)

(cast Elixir of Resuscitation)/g Rezzing << %t >> 100% health. /r Rezzing << %t >> 100% health.

Four copies of /assist (name)

When I'm not tanking, I just fill in the name of whoever I'm supposed to be assisting. Main tank, offtank, main assist, and an extra for those oddball fights. Most of the time at least 3 of these are sitting in the macro window, not on my hotbar.

a half dozen or so "/target (some mob name)" sitting in the macro window ready to be dragged out for the next fight. Digestive sacs, those mobs inside levi's stomach, various adds summoned by various named, etc.

a few '/shout' and/or '/r' commands for various announcements like the statues in the Druushk fight, or the shineys in the Nexona fight, or whatever other odd job I get assigned that needs to be announced, also kept in the macro window until needed.

(cast Consecrate)(cast Holy Ground)/g Taking aggro!/r Taking aggro!typically followed by casting 2 AEs and then Divine Aura.

Now... you don't NEED any of this if you're just grouping. I highly recommend the assist (if you're not tanking) and rez macros (rather annoying to get "already cast" or "target not dead" at the end of the cast timer). The Amends and Avoidance macros are also nice for notifying who has what buffs.

If you're tanking, and you'd like to survive your pulls, I'd recommend a pulling macro of some type, with at least a 5-second delay before you actually pull, even if you only use it on boss mobs and difficult encounters. Why? Well, my alt is a mystic, and it takes her around 4 seconds to get you bolstered and sentried. Sure, she's keeping wards running the whole time, but bolster and sentry have a longer recast than their duration... I know templars have similar pre-pull spells that are very useful against difficult ancounters. I generally expect my healer to be able to keep up with me burning through trash mobs with few breaks and no warning on pulls. I AM going to give them a warning before I pull any named, and before I pull a difficult encounter/multiple encounters at once.
