Faster Install - From Disks or Download?

Hello all. Possible returning player here (I played for a year and half or so shortly after launch). I have read horror stories about the length of the digital dowload of the game client. My question is this - would it be faster for me to purchase Shadow Odysey disks, install, and then patch -- or is it better to simply download the full game from Sony's site? Thanks in advance for any input!

<p>i did it both ways. the disks took roughly.. 3.5 hours. the download.. over 6 hours.</p>

<p>There are a decent amount of variables involved. Downloading the game from the San Diego offices is certainly quicker as we get about 10 mb/s download speeds. Most areas in Japan are likely going to have a far greater bandwidth in which downloading is faster.</p><p>If you're within the US and have DSL or mid-range Cable. Discs may be quicker - it also depends on which discs you have, though! If you just have the base EQ2 disc, I'm thinking it may end up being longer than a consistent download.</p>

Thanks for the feedback. I am in the US and have standard cable internet. Given that, it seems like the discs may be faster - assuming I can find them at a store nearby. Thanks again.

<p>I reinstalled from the tso discs about 7wks or so ago, when I entered the patcher I only had a d/l update of around 45mins so I was well chuffed. If you can find em I'd buy a copy of the tso discs and reinstall and run from there it'll be alot quicker.</p>
