This is a really annoying issue - I had an issue that customer service fixed for me where my subscription data was corrupt; they escalated it and now I can get to my subscription data and such, but now for every single game (SWG, Vanguard, EQ Pirates, and EQ II) the launcher looks for the install, finds it, and then, despite the fact that the game is present, proceeds to attempt to download the 6-20 gigs for the games. Outrageous!

Please tell me there is a simple fix for this - Otherwise I need to get some credit for the 5 days its going to take to download games that already are installed =/

Hoping for help!

I see what it's done. Why they would not program launcher to know how the game defaults to for an install is just goofy.

Also, why can't launcher actually discover my install in the first place. It was building an entirely different directory structure under Launcher's folder.

Dumb.

Just a workaround you probably already know, but...

Until you get a real fix on this you can open eq2 from the .exe file and play that way. I had to do that at the begining of the Win 7 RC trial - I was having the same symptoms as you currently are. It bypasses the launcher.

It worked find on W7 RC7600 and will work fine on the RTM code that will be available to groups starting on 08/06/09

Did you have the game installed in the default directory before updating the launcher? I believe the new launcher will at least check whether or not the game is in the default location. I can understand your frustration, though. I wish it would prompt you before starting the download.

It does work properly now.

EQ2 requires NO registry entries to install, have never run an install from the cd's since I started playing 5 years ago, been through about 25 machines in that time period, don;t even know where my disks are, just the cd-keys incase I need to handle something with my account.

If you have any suggestions/feedback/complaints about the station launcher then I would really advise posting in the following forum:

http://forums.station.sony.com/stat....m?forum_id=200

That area is actively monitored and responded to by the Station Launcher Dev. We'll always help you with any technical issues you experience in this forum, but they can actually consider and incorporate your suggestions.
