My brother and I plan on duoing our first characters to the level cap. He is intent on playing a Swashbuckler, as they resemble the World of Warcraft Rogue. I originally planned on duoing a Monk with him, however from what I can gather, playing a tank class as your first choice isn't easy as most groups will rely heavily on you, and if you don't understand aspects of the game, it can hinder your group. It also seems that monks aren't very wanted in raids and you need extensive gearing to get them on par with other tank classes. So I want to play either a hearler or dpser.

So what would be the most ideal class to duo with a Swashbuckler? I've played most of the classes so far during my trial weeks and I did enjoy most of them, so I guess I'm just looking for the most effective duo class that will also be able to either heal or dps in groups. I don't want to do double Swashbucklers, since that has been thrown around as a decent group.

Thanks.

If you're wanting to be a healer that can still throw some decent dps around and also supplement your "swashtank" -- I'd suggest a Mystic.

Between your wards and debuffs, the swashie should be just fine as "tank/dps." After you get enough AA's to get your melee spec then you'll be adding quite a bit yourself. Runspeed AA's will make you both get places faster too.

You could also try a warden. These also have a melee spec with enough aa's, but no appreciable buffs or debuffs that would really help a duo with a swashie. They do get portals and runspeed buffs though, so they would make getting around really fast also.

I'd still suggest a mystic as your primary choice, though.

With my Swash, I've duoed with an Illusionist, a Defiler, a Berserker, a Paladin, and a Warden.

Now my view is biased, all of them were L80 except for the Defiler who was around the same level as both she and my Swash grew up. But from what I've seen, all of those work well with a Swash.

Hmmm .... For the most optimized class I would probably say Mystic, but any class should go. And yes it is a lot harder to get a spot as a Tank for raiding, esp for a Brawler. So if you intend to raid best stay away from Druids, Summoner and Brawlers as they have the hardest time getting a raid spot.

HAHAHA! When Hubby said that he wanted to be a swashy, I was goofy and rolled a Templar. It worked out great since I could gain aggro and he could do his backstab attacks

Anything can be duo'd though with a swashy if you enjoy it. You will learn how to do it the best way as you level To be honest, My maxxed out Templar is the most boring character that I have. I would delete her if she want 80 already.... lol
