Might be a firewall blocking the game.

It's not my firewall thats open for EQ2. Thanks for the idea though and i did just double check it too

Thanks

just started with the exact same problem. i have 2 machines and accounts, so have been able to test out a few variables. the account that wont login on my machine (which is vista) will login fine on my 2nd machine (which is xp).

i have deleted my cache and let a full scan happen, i have run as adminstrator and in xp service pack 2 capacity mode. the same problem occurs. just to make sure we are talking about the same thing. launch pad runs ok but when i click launch it goes through the 2 or 3 pictures then a small box appears indicateing its trying to find a server it goes through 1-9 twice then tells me it cant connect and thats it i only have the option to quit

the system thats having problems with is far newer, cant imagine its a hardware problem, my best guess is it relates to vista in someway, i did try to install peer guardian a month or 2 back but that wont run on vista unless u f8 every reboot so def isnt running, i have anti virus software bulldog but turn it off to play eq2

lol il leave this up but as i was typing i kept going to try different things to see if they worked so i could add them. problem seems to be with windows firewall, i disabled it, bulldog firewall replaced it and started running now the game works as normal. dont ask me why windows firewall has been working fine for the last month and suddenly took a dislike to eq2. roll on windows 7, vista rally is the most bloated piece of over restrictive programing i have ever seen it worse than windows ME.

hope u work your problem out 2

Are you using a router with your network? If so, I would advising bypassing it temporarily for testing purposes. If you are plugged directly into the modem and that corrects the problem then we will need to help you configure that router.

il try bypass my router when i get home and get back, with if that works.

to clear your cache just start your launcher then click into settings (depends which version of launcher your using as to how you do this but its pretty obvious for both) the option in the new launcher is called clear cache the one in the old i think is perform full scan. either way they do the same thing when u restart launcher it will check through all your eq files and download anything thats missing orcorrupted, usually takes 5-10mins depending on your machine speed and what it needs to download.

like i said didnt help for me but def worth a try in the past has often solved issues for me.

Have just the same problem.

Used a wormhole generator to Ant, was kicked to the char select screen, reentering zone didn't worked. I deleted files in "cache" and "logincache". Then I got the "looking for login server" message. Half an hour later it worked but got kicked again after two zonings. Now I'm again at the point where reentering zone don't work.

I think it must be a problem with the cache files.

I have no router, no firewall and I'm disabling any antivir software before playing.

Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.

I'd also like you to post your ipconfig and tracert results if this doesn't work. You can find instructions on how to do so in the sticky post at the top of this subforum.

finally traced my problem down, i use a network plug the uses the electricity line to attach to my modem down stairs on the machine i was having problems, this was plugged into a large multiplug extension, i switched it to plug directly to the wall plug socket and all is normal again. had it set up the old way for sometime without problem, clueless as to why it suddenly became an issue but it did, tested on the other machine to be sure and it had just the same effect so was def that for me.
