(E_OUTOFMEMORY)

0099e00e 009alec0

Anyone have any advice?

I am running directx version: 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

my vcard is the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS driver version 6.14.0011.6921

I have the same directx and a somewhat older gfx driver, and a 8800 GTS.I don't have the problem but I would try to re-install directx first.

If that doesn't help, try downgrading your gfx driver.Full file scan of EQ2 is also good to do.

And if you don't have 2Gb (XP) memory or more, get some.If you are running Vista, 4Gb or more.If that doesn't help, try to see if you can get the same error with some other game/application that uses DirectX.If you can, it's probably nothing to do with EQ2, and I'd check drivers again and test hardware to make sure it works ok.

I think you need to provide us with some more information about your hardware.

What cpu, how much RAM, what OS, etc.

As EQ2 is still not using the graphics card that much (altho Ryan is working hard to shift more and more tasks over), EQ2 is a real memory consuming resourcehog.

So this Out Of Memory error can also be that it run out of System Memory. And mostly it's caused by other processes running the background adding into the Memory consumption and so conflicting with your EQ2 client.

I remember I had these kind of CTD issues myself with EQ2 couple years ago, as I only had like 1,5GB RAM and Windows XP.

2GB of RAM is bare minimum these days when running Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista. But 4GB RAM is slowly becoming more and more the norm these days.

If you have 2GB of RAM, be sure to check what you've got running in the background that might eat up a lot of your System Memory.

Jer

I also have a what older machine and I before playing EQ2 always press cltr+alt+delete to see what processes i have running and can be turned off. How less unnessecary power usage the better it is.

Internet applications can be powermungers. Chrome specially so never leave that on. But also Firefox and IE can do that.

Also turn off Norton or any other virusscanners. Don't forget to turn back on after playing.

If you use Spybot S&D, turn off Teatimer (very power consuming)

Btw it's not clear if you have this error everytime or at a specific place? I know that Stormhold and Nek Castle gave me memory errors. Cause these zones are known to have mem leakes. So if you encounter it in there, then yes the pain can be hard (lock out in Nek Castle) but not gamebreaking.

If you encounter it everytime then also answer this, do you also have this on other games? If so then there might be a problem with your RAM.

Hope this helps a little, else post some more info

A little more information about my system...

intel core2 6600 conro

4 meg ddr2 ram

windows xp home

nvidai 8800 gts vcard

System should not run out of memory......right?

dont have any other programs running usually, sometimes a web browser, but this system should handle that easily....right?

I do run details on high, but again, this system should be able to handle that...it perfoms well when I'm not crashing....
