I switched back to my old XP computer did a complete reformat and install with the same hardware configuration in my current PC... No problems for several days.

I switched back to my vista setup, reformated... same exact hardware setup... crashed within 10 mins of game start and randomly several times since then.

You would think with a Operating system that has been out for awhile now that the game would be more vista friendly.... why is that?

I been back for a few days, and was gone for a little less than a month before that, and ever since I been back. When moving around no matter where I am, I get performance lag randomly, which I never had before. I al also getting random crashes, and I notice they usually happen when switching characters... Then, when that happens I start the game up again, it starts to log in, and says... "This account is in use." So... It then asks em for my info to sign in again. I type it in, and it goes. "Login rejected." And it closes, and I have to restart the game again... Which this time it works. It's been happening a lot. I am in Vista 64x premium.

I stopped playing the day after the last major update with the Rime was implemented, before now. Has anyone else noticed any performance, and stability problems since the last major patch? I have ran spybot, norton, and even the free trned micro house call virus scan. Just to make sure I was totally clean, which I have been. I ran MS config, and closed everything not Microsoft related... No change. I get randome crashes usually when changing characters, and random performance hits... Sometimes in groups I get total slowdown like when you try to raid with the graphics set too high.

I have a quad core 2.33x4, a Geforce 9800GT <I have most up-to-date drivers,a nd even tried the beta>, and 7 gigs of ram. I used to get with everything maxed <shadows turned off, and flora turned off (it annoys me)> about 30-45 in highly populated areas, and alot of NPCs, and people doing stuff. When alone, I get 62, or in certain zones. Now I am lucky to get 30, and usually am between 20-30.

help, if you know of something else I can check, or you know may have happened, or if you're having the problem as well.

P.S. I did run a full game file scan.

Make sure you have the new GPU shadows off as well as the cpu shadows. They've made some changes since you were gone that some computers have liked, and some have very much disliked. Also in the patch I believe on the 7th, there seems to have been a small fps hit as well. I can't confirm anything about that, but I know of atleast 20 people that have had a small hit since then. Keep in mind that your cpu is only 2.33ghz. Since eq2 doesn't utilize any more than one core, I don't feel that 2.33ghz is enough to run things at max with a 60+ fps rate.

Also, something UI related could have happened over time. It wouldn't hurt to clear all your UI files and repatch your game to get them refreshed. There are like 15 threads that can give you the info on how to do that.

Another thing, make sure you have sych refresh rate and triple buffering. Since the patch I've found that making sure both are enabled has greatly decreased overall lag issues. Also, some cards like Reuse vertex buffers, and some don't. Just takes a quick game restart to see if yours likes it.

And Praetor,

You've been trying for a long time to get help and I realize that, but at some point you need to realize that these people can only do so much for you from a forum. Call tech support or use the live chat. You would probably have much greater luck with your problem fix. You can't converse easily back and forth over a forum. It's more for non-emergency issues.

Good luck.

Vertex Buffer are on, all shadows are off, and I'll try the triple buffer.

Well... 3 days back on XP and not one crash... I think that much covers it for Vista compatibility...

Systems are stable here. One box has been in place upgraded to the RTM of Windows 7 Ultimate, box is stable and can actually run 3 instances of the game on it.

Think that pretty much covers the Vista and Windows 7 Compatibility

Don't see much on your crash problems, got some links?
