View Full Version : Terrible lag issues

I have a high-speed connection (webpages load very quickly and I am below 100ms in both other games and vent.) Just yesterday, I started experiencing unplayable lag while in this game. I generally see a spell/ability go off 10 seconds after I press the button. I was on vent with a friend who told me the five mobs I saw him fighting were dead, and it took me about 30 seconds of watching him fight for me to see the results. I have all visual settings on low. Please help if you can. Thank you.

Didn't work, unfortunately.

I'm thinking it has something to do with receiving data from the server. If I pull one mob and fight it, I have no issue. If multiple mobs are involved, it lags badly. If I run a ways, the new terrain/mobs don't load for 20-30 seconds. I tried the whole port forwarding/opening ports found in another thread, but it only helped slightly.

Has this been fixed yet? I want to log back into voice lol

My wife and I, as well as some other people in our guild have been noticing issues where the game would get extremely choppy for no reason. In some cases, this happened during combat, in others while riding an npc mount in lavastorm and also while running in the guild hall. It will go from 45-50 FPS down to anywhere from 1 to 10 for a second, then back up, then back down, almost like it was trying to load content or some such. I hope this helps.

Now that you mention it i've noticed i seem to take longer than i used to, to load in the stuff at our GH bank and some what at our market place too. Nothing has changed on my system at all.

My experiences with lag:Overpopulated Instance Lag (Server Lag)1) Instanced zones - The more guilds that are in an instanced raid zone (such as Palace or Tombs) - the greater chance of "server lag". This is where you hit a button on the client and nothing responds for anywhere from 1-5 seconds. This could be on a single trash mob. It is not client lag, and EVERYONE in the whole raid is getting it.Large Encounter Lag2) Any large group encounters (such as the two traps in Palace) - is GUARANTEED lag, regardless of who else is in the zone. And no, its not my client. I play on raid settings (junk quality) and have a top notch computer. You get the same button lag you do in #1. I've experienced client lag on slower computers I have owned, its way different. Again, everyone in the raid is getting the lag.Scripted Encounter Lag3) Any large scripted encounter. Avatar fights such as Flame and Anashti lag you to death, even without spectators watching the fight. That is really the most challenging aspect of these fights; dealing with the lag. My hypthoesis is that the scripts themselves cause the lag (much like DFC used to lag before they removed all the scripts there, now its great). In this case, everyone in the raid is getting it, but if I'm watching another guild pull, I have zero lag. This is ENCOUNTER lag.agressiv

The only time it gets better is for the few hours after the server comes down. Raiding with this type of lag is not fun and its consistant every day.

Frame rates are in the 40's, ping is around 150ms. There is no "visual" lag, its all communication lag. People usually call it "Spell" lag. Meaning you hit a spell/CA and it takes 2 seconds before it even starts to cast. If your CA is a .4sec cast time thats 500% increase in your cast time.

On really bad days you hit a spell/CA and it has the usuall 2 sec delay before it starts casting then it casts, completes, and the hotbar icon greys out but then suddenly ungreys out like you never even casted it. It's getting horrible.

The last few days on Crushbone zoning and bank transactions have been really slow also. You buy something from the broker it takes your coin but the items dont appear in your bag for 3-5min and you are unable to camp or zone durring that time because your "currently in a broker transaction." Zoning takes 3-5 min also, you sit at recieving zone info the whole time, then once it starts going the rest goes fast.

This is not exclusive to me as evey person in my guild is experienceing the same thing and complaining about it in vent and everyone in 70-79 public chat channel talks about it too.

The visual effects remain smooth - the client is not locking up whatsoever. On vent with a friend, they can see things happening up to 30 seconds before I see it happen on my screen. They can see me with three mobs hitting me, and those mobs haven't even spawned on my screen yet. I've run across what I thought to be an empty field, and found myself dying on the other end because it had mobs there.

It works just fine if I go wall - DSL modem - my computer. The problem is the router I use is on the fritz, and I need two computers active. At the moment I'm using a Netgear DSL modem with a built in router, so I know the issue has to be with how the router handles the game. I've even tried disabling anti-virus/firewalls and even opened all ports to outgoing/incoming data - nothing is helping.

Yep - the firmware is up-to-date. I still can't figure out what is causing it.

I appreciate all the help so far and any in the future, I know that my connection issues are related to this router and not your game.
