Hello! I am a returning player, just picked up an old copy i had around the house that i had never installed or activated. Its the EQ2/KOS client installation.

I've done the full update and got to the character creation screen. After creating my monk and selecting my city, I get to pick a server. Everything is running great at this point. When i select my server and click play, the game becomes semi-unresponsive with "submitting {character name} to server for approval." I can still move the mouse around but nothing happens. Ive let it set for a couple of minutes, but no dice.

Ive tried a couple of different setups and names, to no avail. I'm on kind of an older computer. Windows xp (fresh install), 2.4 P4, 1 gig of ram. Ive ran this game on this box before, but now im at a wall. Any suggestions? Like i said, this is a fresh EQ2 installation. Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds very much like a connection issue by how you've described it. Are you familiar with port forwarding? I can certainly provide you the necessary information to get it done or at least a guide if you have your router's type and model #.

Otherwise it's also possible some software firewalls could cause a problem and may need you to manually add EQ2 as an exception to avoid any sort of issues.

I always run windows firewall disabled and let my router take care of it.
