Could someone please direct me to where I can find info on Ratonga? I've done the History book, but for what I need on Pheep's background, it's not helping.

What I'm namely looking for is when Ratonga made their appearance on Norrath, how many years ago.

Thanks much in advance!

From what I recall of doing the starting area quest and later the Wheel of Vaniki quest, they didn't make themselves known until the Rending.

There's an ongoing thread here, got buried back a few pages. The short answer is, not a lot known.

Suspicions, on the other hand, run wild.

Ahah, beautiful, thank you both!

I know Pheep's rather old, been working on her history a bit. I'm an RPG player, old paper and pencils and dice player for 20 plus years. Habits are hard to break. All of my toons have their own little stories and bgs, LoL.

Thanks again!

There's a fair chance the next expansion will give a little bit of lore behind the Ratonga.

I say "Fair" chance because of the Hole, which contained generic named Ratmen, and the sealed off entrance to the Plane of the Underfoot.

Your best bet of finding anything will be related to that zone.

Not sure about ratonga, but there's the questline that starts with Disturbance that involves the roekillik heavily.

There is more than a fair chance, since at the Lore Panel at Fan Faire, they told us that we'd definitely be learning more about the Kerra, Erudites and Ratonga this expansion. So hopefully they let the rats... er Ratongas have their cheese.

I'm recalling from the original Prima game guide that some of the first-iteration roekillik escaped from where they were locked away during the Shattering. They took up residence somewhere in the Underfoot and have been hunting down the second-iteration roekillik (ratonga) ever since.

Okay, so to see ifn I understand...

1st gen Roekies, high psis, kinda looney, Brell locked away after stripping them down a bit.

2nd gen Roekies are what we know as Ratonga. They were locked away underground, but when the Rendering happened which split the continents, they popped up around Freeport. There's history with Lucan and FP, I just need to find that bit.

Yes? No? O_o

/eyes Pheep You're lucky I love you so much, old mouse.

*Pheep just smirks as she polishes her Truth of Marr and Zealot's Steel armour*

Player rolls eyes.

Actually Brell almost killed all of the first generation and only kept a few who he locked away deep in the underfoot. To the second generation it is stated afaik that they suddenly appeared in higher regions of the underfoot - seems that this happened even before the rending, though it isn't totally clear.

Ratongas seem to be closely bound to Norrath's inner rhythm, so they see and feel things other races don't.

Then there is this ominous guy named N'Gurai, dwelling in the former dark elf fortress of Anetiff - I wonder what's up with him.

It's the Rending that forced the Ratonga to emerge from the Underfoot as Antonica is being split apart at the time. Caverns and tunnels collapsed and got disconnected all over the former continent. So it wasn't very safe to stay down there.

So they came out about 135-150 years before EQ2.
