<p>I am getting a new laptop for college. This is what I currently have:</p><p>Windows XP</p><p>Intel Core Duo Processor T2250 1.73 GHz 2mb cache</p><p>2 gigs of ram</p><p>Nvidia GEFORCE GO 7600 256 mb graphical memory</p><p>This is the laptop I am looking at:</p><ul ><li> 16.4" widescreen with XBRITE-FullHD™ LCD technology (1920x1080) </li><li> 320GB SATA Hard Disk Drive [5400 rpm] </li><li> WLAN (802.11a/b/g/n) with integrated Bluetooth® technology </li><li> ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD4650 graphics card with 1GB  </li><li> Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T6500 (2.10GHz) </li><li> </li><li> Blu-ray Disc™ playback/burning  </li><li> Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Premium 64-bit (will be upgrading to windows 7)</li><li> 4GB DDR2-SDRAM (DDR2-800, 2GBx2) </li></ul><p>What kind of a difference should I be expecting performance wise?</p>

<p>Greetings,</p><p>The performance difference should be fairly significant based on the specs you have posted.  It's always hard to say exactly how much gain you'll get with a laptop, though, since they will have different proprietary software and the like.  Still, assuming it's configured correctly, you should see a nice performance gain.</p>
