Hi, today I decided to get back into eq2. I activated my old account, I installed the game, and then I launched the launcher. The launcher goes through scanning the files....it finishes. And then thats it....I cannot select a character or anything. It gives the option to download underneath the updating icon...I click it...it downloads a file eq2_keymap_unitedstate.ini, and thats all it does. So I cannot get in game or do anything else what the hell is up with this. I never had this problem before with the box I bought or its install cd's, Ive reinstalled twice....what am I missing here?

When you try to log in does it just say 'download cancelled' or 'download complete' where it should say 'downloading'? Are you using Windows Vista? If so, make sure to go through these steps:

1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"

Let us know if that doesn't correct the issue or if you're not running Vista. You might want to PM me if you need to respond since I don't check this forum as often as I check the support forums.

Greetings,

Now that you're through that part, the freezing issue probably isn't being caused by Vista specifically. At this point I would recommend updating your graphics card drivers to the most recent version(if they aren't already), and downloading/installing direct x 9.0c. I have included a link to that below:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...;displaylang=en

If the problem continues at that point then we'll probably need at least the first section of your DXdiag file to get more information about your computer.

So Is there a solution to this problem Im experiencing? If not then I'd like to be directed to the process of getting my money back for the month I've paid for and will not be using.

Are you running any type of antivirus on that computer? It's possible that an antivirus program is trying to quarantine the game. That happens fairly often for people that use Mcaffee, Norton, or the later versions of AVG. If you're using an antivirus, please try disabling it before starting the game. You might want to try a full cleanboot as listed below as well:

1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.

Regarding your refund request, that is not the kind of thing I can approve over the forums. I would suggest calling or contacting our chat support if that is the option you prefer. The following link contains our contact information:

http://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bi...p?p_faqid=10404

Ok I did what you said regarding disabling all the startups. I also caught someone saying to use the station launcher which I also downloaded and just installed, as well as restarting my modem and wireless router. I launched the station launcher and it is auctually updating no freezing with this launcher..it says about 8.90 GB dling @ 363kb/s. Once it updates ill launch to play and see if it will actually let me play from here on out.
